I found that the solution was having a second, actual Xbox controller connected to activate some of those functions, but there were still times when things got a bit awkward. s tantamount to serving spaghetti without silverware, Bandai Namco opted to NOT release a taiko drum controller for the platform. I updated the firmware and it would connect my dual sense to the wingman but wouldn’t actually work on the Xbox series x.

I might end up becoming a broken record on this, but there were numerous points where I kept feeling amazed at how easy getting most controllers up and running was. With a few seconds of effort, I was now using a DualShock 4 on my Series X, which was an incredibly weird feeling.Connect the Xbox One wireless controller (Bluetooth model) or the Xbox One Elite Series 2 to the Wingman XB and the controller will be ready for use. What the team at Brook has put into this device feels like legitimate magic at times, and my only disappointment with the Wingman XB is that I’ll now feel envious over its younger sibling’s extra features. Holding the LED buttons on the two sides of the Wingman XB for 1 second will activate wireless connection pairing mode.

And whether I was cracking skulls in Dragon Ball FighterZ with my HORI Real Arcade Pro for the PS4 or weaving in and out of enemy fire in Deathsmiles using my Switch HORI Fighting Stick Mini, the input lag was virtually nonexistent.

I tested a variety of controllers on my Xbox Series X for this review and found the device to function pretty much exactly as advertised. Works great right out of the box for dualshock4 but wireless Dualsense I believe needs a firmware update.

My main genre is racing games, so having the game react as soon as I input any buttons or use the triggers/analog sticks is VITAL.I can’t say for certain that that particular situation had caused the issues, but with everything the Wingman XB has to do to get controllers from other consoles up and running, I’m sure there will be situations where things get a bit mixed up. Thankfully, the fine folks at Brook, the makers of Universal Fighting Board and the Auto Catch Plus, are here to help save us some cash (and some closet space) with the Wingman XB. Plus, I’m sure there are a lot of people who have never tried one of these converters for themselves in any form—and given that Brook also sells PlayStation- and Switch-focused adapters, my experience here will relate to that side of the conversation as well.
