About this deal

Detailed Channels and Maximum Power Settings for Cisco Catalyst 9120AXI Indoor Access Points, Release 17.6.1 03-Aug-2021 (XLSX - 8 MB) Field Notice: FN-70479 Out-Of-The-Box AP Fails to Join WLC or Joins with Single Radio due to Country Mismatch - RMA required

I wanted to upgrade my WiFi at home from two 2802i running on Mobility Express to 802.1AX AP's running on eWLC. As availabiltity for 9120's is quite poor here in Germany I bought two 9115AXI-E and converted them to eWLC. Organizations need more options for buying software to improve their flexibility, reduce risk, and cut costs. Next-generation Wi-Fi 6 access points starting with the Catalyst 9120 Series now contain a new radio based on a custom-designed Cisco silicon referred to as an ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit). This analytics radio enhances the performance of the access point’s client serving radios, as all this deep RF analysis is done on the RF ASIC. Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access (OFDMA)-based scheduling splits the bandwidth into smaller chunks called Resource Units (RUs), which can be allocated to individual clients in both the downlink and uplink directions to reduce overhead and latency.Select the access point model based on requirements and as per the correct country’s regulatory domain. Whenever practical or possible, please keep antenna cable runs as short as possible. Cisco offers Low Loss (LL) and ultralow loss (ULL) cables, which have the same characteristics as Times Microwave LMR-400 and LMR-600. Mobility Express is designed for networks of all sizes, including small and medium-sized businesses and distributed enterprises. It provides industry-leading wireless LAN technology without the need for a physical controller or additional licences.

Cisco DNA support

In addition, the Cisco Catalyst 9100 Series access points support software-defined access―Cisco’s leading enterprise architecture. Network infrastructures that upgrade to WiFi 6 (also known as 802.11ax) enabled devices will get up to 4x capacity boost needed to support the additional devices connected to the network as well as the data that they generate. 802.11ax (WiFi 6) will offer multi-Gigabit performance which will feature a seamless connectivity with higher throughput compared to the 802.11ac (WiFi 5) standard. This means you’ll see your network performance run smoother. With support for BSS Coloring, the new standard eases high device dense deployments by allowing simultaneous transmissions, ultimately increasing network capacity, customer interactions, and value-add services. BSS Coloring allows the limited channels in the 2.4 GHz to have better spectral re-use benefiting IoT and 2.4 GHz clients. For additional information on Cisco antennas, see the Cisco Antenna Reference Guide at this URL: https://www.cisco.com/go/antenna-ref. Apple and Cisco have partnered to create an optimal mobile experience for iOS devices on corporate networks based on Cisco technologies. Using new features in iOS 10, in combination with the latest software and hardware from Cisco, businesses can now more effectively use their network infrastructure to deliver an enhanced user experience across all business applications. When you power up the access point, it begins a power-up sequence that you can verify by observing the access point LED. If the power-up sequence is successful, the discovery and join process begins. During this process, the LED blinks sequentially green, red, and off. When the access point has joined a controller, the LED is chirping green if no clients are associated or green if one or more clients are associated.

Steady performance in demanding environments

If you are instructed to return your product under the terms of your warranty and are issued an RMA number, follow these steps: To use Smart Licensing, you must first set up a Smart Account on Cisco Software Central ( software.cisco.com).

When installing any Wi-Fi equipment inside the elevator cars or shafts, local regulations need to be followed, as many times such installations are prohibited either for safety reasons or because the building owner or local fire department may prohibit them. Also, it is dangerous, and only elevator repair persons or contractors experienced with this kind of work should be in those areas. When the need for external antennas is a requirement, again position/use the Catalyst 9120e model. Call the Cisco TAC line if you have contracted for this service. TAC support is not available as part of the warranty alone.
