Description

Ransom is a bodyguard (the hero/ antihero of the story) assigned to protect Hallie mostly from herself (a pampered, troubled social media princess), but also from murky, shadowy figures who may - or may not - be interested in a former President's daughter.

Hallie was full of sass although she felt empty inside. She felt disconnected from her life and family, but she pushed forward even if it was by rebelling. She cared about people and the planet immensely, but she didn’t show that side of herself to anyone. Ransom was the first person who ever stood up for her and he understood the person behind the façade. He pushed her and helped her to begin believing in herself and to figure out her life. This book is full of slut shaming, stupid teenagers, love at first sight and your classic and most hatred trope of YA books, the you are not like the others trope, yes, for real. Because this books was released on 2019 I immediately thought this is going to be good and mature and it definitely won't have slut shaming, right? because as a society we are so over it, right? right? *awkward silence* However, Van Sistine has also featured in various video games, including Marvel Avengers Academy, Smite, Gemini Wars, Final Fantasy VII and For Evelyn.Did we have to wait to establish the character relationship, yes, was there a wait until these two hooked up, yep, was it love at first sight hell no! This book. Thissss….book. Holy Hannah! I’m in love with it. I am a slow reader. And I read Thorne Princess particularly slow, because I really wanted to savor it. Leading to a couple sleepless nights and absolutely zero regrets about it. Yor's dishes cause virtually any taster, even Loid, to collapse (in one case, sending Loid to the toilet for an entire day). The only individual shown to be able to withstand Yor's cooking is her brother, Yuri, but he violently throws up between bites and even recalls seeing his life flash before his eyes. Despite this, Yuri grew up with no significant health issues. Even Bond once imagined himself dying as a result of Yor's cooking, and once collapsed after tasting a small portion of a meal she had made. The only dish Yor successfully cooked was her late mother's southern stew after Camilla gave her several cooking lessons and helped her recreate it. Random treats Hallie like an ungrateful brat and pulls her into line, cutting off her finances and social popularity. Yor's maiden name, rose motifs and codename hint at the inspiration for her character being drawn from Little Briar Rose, which is an alternative title for the fairytale Sleeping Beauty.

The Thorn Princess is the first instalment of the Iron Crown Faerie Tales. I was already familiar with the author’s hugely enjoyable Native Guardian series so I was looking forward to delving into this book. From the offset, the author draws you in effortlessly with a glimpse of the stunning world of the Winter Court Fae. Her wonderful use of descriptive and vivid imagery had me feeling as though I was there, practically tasting the snow on my tongue. These two start off resenting each other, but like all good slow burn stories, their mutual attraction and chemistry starts to heat up and eventually boils over!!

Neither believe the other can change. But as they get to know each other it becomes clear that Hallie isn't the only one in need of protecting. Two accidental slaps from Yor were enough to cause Yuri to bleed excessively to the point that some passersby were concerned and recommended that he should go to the hospital. By her admission, she had accidentally broken two of Yuri's ribs from a hug when she was in her teens.
