This is a superbly written book, where Mankowski tells how uncomfortable, awkward and magnificent it is to be English. Through his snapshots of cultural history, Mankowski explores the form and shape of English identity to reveal who we are, who we've been, and who we'd like to be. They provide expert and detailed descriptions, disclose all significant defects and/or restorations, provide clear and accurate pricing, and operate with fairness and honesty during the purchase experience. Both comprise facsimiles of hand-written pages torn from notebooks with only the sketchiest of explanatory notes.
