Some recipes just say to "cook the ingredients" while others actually provide temperatures, but those temperatures are sometimes in Fahrenheit and sometimes say "Gas 3" or "Gas 6" etc. There are plenty of recipes to try: I'd certainly like to try cooking the Vegan shepherds pie, a giant patty and Rasta Pumpkin pasta to start with. The first recipe we tried was Pepper Steak, a rich, mouth-watering meal with a fiery kick that I just had to share with you! There are many recipes of greedy interest: Plantain Hummus; Caribbean-Spiced Jackfruit Wraps with Plum Sauce; Corn Fritters; Tomato and Coconut Pasta; a tremendous Curry Tofu and Vegetables, which I nearly selected to run here; Cauliflower Burger with Spicy Mayo, Slaw and Mango Chutney; Sweet Potato and Chickpea Peanut Stew with Jollof Rice; a fabulous meat-free take on Pepper Pot Soup; Yam Fries with Scotch Bonnet Sauce or Chilli Jam, and there’s also a recipe for Mango Chilli Sauce I have my eye on.

We also like to twist it up a likkle to give dishes our modern spin, so you can find recipes for Honey roasted jerk-spiced salmon, Plantain beanburgers and Banana fritter cheesecake. Packed with around 100 mouth-watering vegan recipes, Natural Flava will elevate your vegan cooking repertoire with finger-licking goodness. I work with students from the Caribbean, so I was always curious about the foods they grew up eating. I normally like recipe books that include pictures for every recipe and while this book doesn't have pictures for them all, the pictures that are included look delicious. This delicious, vibrant Caribbean-influenced cookbook from the bestselling duo behind Original Flava includes over 100 easy recipes. I mention it only because I feel if I alter anything in someone’s recipe, I feel it is only polite to say so!

Mackerel Run Down a traditional dish that combines tender fresh and dried mackerel with sautéed vegetables and a rich spiced coconut sauce. Please hit like if you enjoyed this review and let me know of any other cookbooks or comforting recipes you think I should try. Caribbean food makes for brilliant vegan dishes because it relies on fresh and vibrant fruit and veg, from plantain to pineapple.Cook until browned, then add the scotch bonnet, thyme, spring onions and tomatoes and stir everything. If the tofu you have is fairly soft, leave it covered between 2 plates in the fridge for at least an hour. Determined to find more interesting Vegan recipes with actual ingredients rather than 'fake meat' this book wonderfully fit my requirements. This is an amazing introduction to plant- based Caribbean cooking and since I have never had authentic Caribbean food before - mainly because I have the chilli threshold of a toddler - I was SOOO excited to see this book. So I prescribe myself the Kitchen Cure, which is to say I lose myself in cooking and eating good things full of bright flavour.

We also like to twist it up a likkle to give dishes our modern spin, so you can find recipes for Honey roasted jerk-spiced salmon, Plantain bean burgers and Banana fritter cheesecake. It also features a wide variety of fresh fruit and vegetables like plantain, yams, jackfruit, guava, and plenty more, making it perfect for vegan recipes. The most important thing, we think, is the togetherness food brings - the same happiness we have with our family.

I was a little daunted by the book at the beginning when it kept asking for ingredients that I’ve either never heard of, or are very difficult to procure for the average Canadian. We also like to twist it up a likkle to give dishes our modern spin, so you can find recipes for Honey roastedjerk-spiced salmon, Plantain beanburgers and Banana fritter cheesecake. Caribbean food makes for brilliant vegan dishes because it relies on fresh and vibrant fruit and veg from plantain to pineapple. Rasta Pumpkin Pasta was the first recipe we tried from this book, which I picked up because I'd seen it reviewed in the newspaper. We want to give you platefuls that taste like grandma's food so there are recipes for classics like Ackee 'n' Saltfish and Curry goat, and Caribbean favourites from home such as Garlic butter lobster and Trini doubles. Most of the recipes come with full colour photography, measurements are in metric terms, and the instructions are simple to follow. There's lots of interesting recipes for plantains, a squash wellington that I've never seen before, some porridge bowls, and more! Other recipes we have tried and liked from this recipe book are; Jerk-spiced Lentil Bolognese (pictured below) Chicken Fried Rice, Da Jerk Burger, and Curry Prawns. Biography: Craig and Shaun McAnuff, raised in London and of Jamaican descent, are bringing Caribbean food to the masses. Essentially Jamaican cooking without salt, meat, or additives, Ital is just as tasty but with the power to promote overall health and wellness.
