The distillery collaborated with Cove Park and the Cove Sailing Club as part of the Dandelion unexpected garden project, a "grow your own" initiative which invites everyone to sow, grow and share, food, music, knowledge and ideas. Paula owens new novel is a must read for anyone interested in the history of animal welfare, or indeed the lesser known stories about the development, and rifts within the suffrage movement in the early twentieth century. They had been alone with the dog for about two minutes during which time they examined it themselves. Of course, Stovies wouldn't be complete without a side of beetroot and an oatcake or two, so some black pepper and oats were also to the distillation, with the oats grown on the farm next to the distillery. Formed in 2013, Little Brown Dog was a label Andrew used to identify cask samples to share with friends.

The story of the Brown Dog and his memorial goes back to December 1902, when Professor Starling at University College London performed his first operation on the terrier dog, depriving it of the use of its pancreas. However, at the trial, the anaesthetic condition of the dog could not be proved, nor was it possible to prove the statement of Bayliss that the dog was suffering from hemi-chorea (ceaseless occurrence of rapid jerky involuntary movements) which accounted for its alleged movements. Really liked the start of this and as a South Londoner appreciate this bit of history being resurrected. The thought of a statue enraging a crowd to violent protest ultimately leading to its destruction would have been fanciful, at best something from the distant past. Stephen Coleridge, who took up the appointment of Honorary Secretary in 1897 (remaining until 1936) came from a family of committed anti-vivisectionists; his father had been one of NAVS’ vice-presidents and Stephen had not been converted to, but born into the cause.Little Brown Dogs Spirits is an independent bottler and experimental micro distillery based in rural Aberdeenshire. People and shapes made from solid wood and spun cotton - perfect for crafting, painting and decorating! It was once said, whether in appreciation or in malice, that in dividing the human race one would have men, women and Coleridges.

A barrister by profession, Coleridge came from a distinguished family, which had connections with many influential people.Paula Owen builds on real events to create a vivid social history in the early twentieth century, when passions were building both over animal rights but also the wider issues of women's rights. Although their distillery is tiny, comprising a 10 litre pot still and a larger 100-litre still for rectifying neutral grain spirits, Little Brown Dog have made a virtue of their small size and rural location. The dry botanicals are left for twelve hours to steep in the base alcohol overnight before the fresh botanicals are added the next day. Based on events that shook Edwardian London society and sent shock waves across Britain, Little Brown Dog is a deeply emotive, at times humorous, and agelessly important story that resonates with modern dilemmas regarding our careless treatment of nature. The memorial was removed in the early hours of 10 March following the Council meeting on the previous evening. In Memory of the Brown Terrier Dog done to Death in the Laboratories of University College in February 1903, after having endured Vivisection extending over more than two months and having been handed from one Vivisector to another till Death came to his Release. Two Swedish anti-vivisectionists, Leisa Schartau and Louise Lind-af-Hageby, who had enrolled as students at the London School of Medicine for Women so that they could learn first-hand about the work in such laboratories, attended that lecture demonstration. However, with the election of a new Council of a different political hue, the situation changed and, on 9 March 1910, the Council approved the decision to remove the monument. Walking along the Strand one winter evening, Ford became caught up in a rowdy group of young medical students who thrust a stuffed animal into his face. Little Brown Dog have a short history speckled with excellent single cask and small batch drams, and are definitely an indie bottler to watch for the future.
