Glenn is grateful for Trailers From Hell’s generous offer of a guest reviewing haven for CineSavant. Though far from essential viewing, this featurette is fast-paced and entertaining, and fans will enjoy checking it out. Presenting the film as an out and out comedy, his only real one unless you count ‘ After Hours’, Scorsese wasn’t showing us the grotesquery’s of one man, the horrific fallacies behind the smiling façade, he was showing us all our own – only a society obsessed with getting rich quick to fuel its own materialistic desires would enable a criminal such as Belfort to not just flourish but thrive and take others with him. The show disturbs this viewer, and it’s scary to know that much of the audience accepts Belfort’s values as Business as Usual. Surrounds are utilized quite well in some of the louder and more crazy drug-induced sequences, or with the score, which Scorsese is well known for picking great music for his films.

A painfully hilarious, very Scorsese bit of insanity sees Hill’s Donnie Azoff blowing a simple cash hand-off over a personal spat, and sending a partner to jail. While one might be forgiven in thinking that the gains of a 4K release of a relatively new film would be marginal, a comparison of images taken from the previous 1080p release (note that this reviewer hasn’t seen the 2021 Paramount 4K UHD release) and this new release form Arrow show that this just isn’t the case. Note: test discs only were sent for review, so we are yet to see any of the off-disc extras included in this set, including the new 60-page collector’s booklet, and the limited-edition packaging that includes replica wallet, AmEx card and Stratton Oakmont banknote. The Wolf Pack (HD; 16:58) is an archival piece with some fun interviews with the principal cast and crew.This is him at his most playful, not needing to overdo it with his fancy split-screens or extended single takes or even those all-time needle drops. Denon's mid-range AVR-X4300H does the lot including 4K, HDR, immersive audio and even multiroom thanks to HEOS.

Like Little Caesarand The Public Enemy, The Wolf of Wall Street depicts a lofty figure's rise and fall and is both a classic morality and cautionary tale, yet unlike those Prohibition-era gangster yarns, it's a serious film that doesn't take itself seriously. In other words, this disc is no Casino, but let's face it, The Wolf of Wall Street is a different, far less flashy entity.The year I turned 26 I made 49 million dollars which really pissed me off as it was 3 shy of a million a week. Scorsese almost always augments his movies with a soundtrack of eclectic tunes perfectly paired to the on-screen action, and the songs, which range from Billy Joel and Eartha Kitt to Bo Diddley and Devo, all fill the room with ease, thanks to exceptional fidelity and marvelous tonal depth.
