I found the level of cushioning to be higher than most daily trainers and even softer than a lot of max-cushioned shoes. It was for sure softer than the Glycerin 18 and the Bondi 7. So, there you have it. The Nike Air Zoom Structure 22 shoes are well-known by Nike fans and runners alike for the comfortable support they provide for their wearers. For runners with flat feet, the responsive cushioning, arch-support, and top-notch build can benefit your running experience. Aside from the construction of the shoe, its plush cushioning utilizes innovative technologies like Flymesh and Zoom Air units so you can run with support and comfort. Qualities like these allow you to focus on your time or distance instead of aching feet or slipping shoes. All the rubber weighs down the shoe but this is one of the most durable outsoles to come out this year and I’ll be really surprised if it doesn’t get to over 1000 kilometres. I used my Structure 24 for mainly easy, middle distance runs which is what it feels most comfortable doing although it is capable of slightly faster efforts. The best thing about the Structure 24 is that it doesn’t feel like a firm, stiff stability trainer that pokes your arch. It’s a comfortable, stable and versatile trainer which can handle most runs. I know what Nike is trying to do with the Structure 25 and the latest InfinityRN 4: they want to push runners who need support away from the InfinityRN to the Structure and vice versa.

There are also no longer reflective strips on the sides of the toe box like on the 23, but there are still reflective strips on the sides of the heel counter. There was a time when the Structure consisted of a tri-density midsole. It changed to a dual-density midsole in the Structure 20, 21 and 22. Now, it consists of a single-density midsole. In the off-road route, the Nike Zoom Structure also performed very highly in our testing. For this shoe, the testing on the Spanish Pond off-road course was done while it was actively raining. Even through the rain, the Zoom Structure did great, and we experienced zero slipping, even in the mud and wet wood planks. The easiest way to tell the difference between the Structure 23 and 24 is the engineered mesh used. It no longer has small perforations on the midfoot and on top of the toe box. Instead, the mesh is smooth so it feels more streamlined.

When you have a classic like the Structure which has been around for 22 versions, it would be silly to just kill off the name and forget it ever existed. The Structure 23 is Nike’s version of the Ultra Boost ST: high levels of cushioning with a built up medial side. I remember watching a Galen Rupp interview years ago in which he said that he has always been a “Structure guy” and does all his training in the Structure. The shoe that it reminded me of most was the Infinity Run 3. Both shoes have heel clips as well as prominent arches but the Structure 25 felt firmer than the Infinity Run 3. After the Invincible Run, the Structure 24 is the next softest trainer in the Nike performance range. If you find the Invincible Run too unstable, expensive or fragile, the Structure 24 is a great alternative.

As a stability runner the structure provided by the upper helps hold your foot in place while you stride, and this is important. Nike has yet to specify which foam they use in the Structure 23. On the midsole is written “CMP 010”. A new foam maybe? To me, it feels very similar to the Lunarlon that was used on the Vomero 10-13. Version 23 was one of the biggest updates in the history of Nike so it makes sense that version 24 is one of the smallest updates. It maintains the same midsole and outsole as last year’s version but it gets a new upper. Unlike many of Nike’s offerings, the Zoom Structure 22 has a roomy toe box. There is nothing worse than to be cramped up front on those repeats or even worse that long run.

The Zoom Air bag in the forefoot of the Structure 23 is similar to the setup in the Pegasus 33/34 where you could feel the air bag through the strobel lining and the insole. After my first run in the Structure 23, I understood why Nike refrained from categorising the shoe as a stability shoe. I love my Structure 23’s for long weekend runs. It serves the same purpose as my Triumph 18’s and my Floatride Run 2.0’s. It’s not nearly as responsive but it beats both of them when it comes to outsole durability. Remember when Nike led us to believe that the Structure was being discontinued because they compared the React Infinity Run to it and said that the React Infinity Run caused runners fewer injuries than the Structure 22? The Structure 24 is the same price as the Pegasus 38 but is more comfortable and more stable so I’d choose the Structure over the Pegasus even though it’s the heavier shoe.

When I say breathable, I run in sunny Las Vegas, and I’m telling you, the uppers ventilate nicely on those sweaty runs. Soles that politely grip the road The Structure 23 is such a vastly different shoe from previous structures that if you were to remove the name badge from the shoe, you’d think it was a brand new shoe. Forget everything you previously knew about the Structure series because the Structure 23 is unlike any other Structure shoe to date. On the other side, the outsole provided a highlight for the sole unit. The traction provided by the outsole handled every surface I on which I tested it.

A lot of runners stay away from “stability” shoes because it usually means firm, heavy and “poking arch” sensation. There’s a good reason that true stability shoes are a dying breed. If the heel were lower to the ground, giving a more grounded feel and platform, it would help provide more support and stability. This feeling of unbalance became more evident the longer I ran. The Structure 24 can be used as your daily trainer, recovery trainer, or long run shoe. It’s not the best shoe for speed work because of its flexible forefoot and its plush upper which makes it weighty.

Who should buy the Nike Structure 25 ?

Support . With responsive cushioning, durable outsole, and Flymesh technology, these shoes are long-lasting and great for runners of all kinds. It is built in a way that benefits runners with flat feet, structured with a solid arch-support and comfortable width that both men and women alike can utilize. The construction of the shoe, with Deep Flex grooves and Dynamic Fit technology, allows for smooth transitions. This gives you a more effective run that is also safe for your feet. This was an effective change as I noticed how my feet were landing on my stride. The wider than average toebox gives you ample room to spread out. It does however shine on recovery or long runs at relaxed speeds. Slow runs from 15km up to marathon distances are in its wheelhouse. Those who find themselves afflicted with plantar fasciitis, flat feet, or other foot problems may cringe at the concept of running. The issues are one of the most frequent causes of pain in the heels of adults, and is particularly common amongst runners. The problem, however, is that looks alone do not make a shoe. The sole unit was too firm, unresponsive and it took a couple of miles on every run to feel comfortable running in them.
