Floss, bless her brave little heart, is showing up in a publishing era that is largely ignoring stories like hers in favor of glitzier, sexier mean-girl fare. Floss wants to go with them, but she doesn't want to leave her father, cheerful and fun Charlie, who runs his own cafe (named Charlie's but the C came off so it is Harlie's) which is quickly going out of business. When everything around floss begins to crumble her and her dad stick together through thick and thin. I found myself being really angry with Floss's mum, no kid should be forced to chose and unless there is a good reason for it, kids should always have access to both parents. Candyfloss explores friendships, families, living below the poverty line, bullying and much more but it is still a light hearted book.

It was one of the uplifting and enaging books of Jacqueline wilson and totally had me ennthralled into it.

I think it's great for parents because it perfectly illustrates how kids' problems are just as big and serious and real as our adult-type problems.

When Floss's mother and stepfather announce they are moving to Australia for six months, Floss has to decide whether to go with them or stay home with Dad--inept, but loving and always lots of fun.It taught you to be generous and kind to others and taught how some people didn't have the luxuriousness as others. When Floss's mum and her new husband Steve move to Australia, Floss faces a difficult choice, but decides to stay at home with Dad. flossie is a nice little girl who stays with her dad instead of going to Australia, but if i were her i would go to Australia because who would miss a chance to go to Australia? The Illustrated Mum won the Guardian Children’s Fiction Award, the 1999 Children’s Book of the Year at the British Book Awards and was also shortlisted for the 1999 Whitbread Children’s Book Award.
