My review would be all rainbows and flowers and ohs and ahs if I had read this book just a year ago, but I guess that I crushed my big pink glasses a long time ago. In Hopeless, Sky left no secret unearthed, no feeling unshared and no memory forgotten, but Holder's past remains a mystery.

I loved being in Will's head, getting his perspective, seeing Lake through his eyes, and d from a character that I was already in love with - Will Cooper! I enjoyed reading this book as much as the first one and can't wait to read the last one of these series! I had feared that I would hate having the 'happy ever after' conclusion from book one ripped apart, but book two offered me even MORE closure than I could have hoped. Once again, I am floored by this author's unique ability to make me feel, not only a fan, but an actual part of this story. The poetry doesn't take as much of a role in this book as in the first book, but it is there, and it is an essential part of the resolution of the issues in this book.

But Point of Retreat was still a phenomenal story with heart and emotion and with characters I have come to love. But I would leave that window shut and locked, so that every time you tried to look through it all you would see is your own reflection. I think that hearing the story through Will's point of view helped to maintain the love connection that exists between these two. I think I would have been terribly irritated with Lake as she pushes him away again and again, despite all of his efforts to make this situation correct. They are adjusting to Julia being gone and are taking it one day at a time to be the best parents they know how to be to their younger siblings.
