I have every album both standard and deluxe editions, most of her magazines (who reads magazines anymore), concert DVDs, and I've seen all her movies(most aren't that good). Thinking of all the revolving doors in my own life, I admired that she was selective who she choose to give herself too. It REALLY didn’t sit well with me how DC was handled to be a platform to push Beyoncé to the top, no matter who got kicked to the curb in the process. Theirs are just a few of the many lawsuits that populate the book—former manager Tillman’s family sues, along with AlexSandra Wright, the mother of Mathew’s son by an extramarital affair, who speaks for the first time.

But what was very interesting for me was just simply to read about a family ( The Knowles)that defined its family's success around the achievements of their Elder daughter. With over 6 million of the world’s best eBooks to choose from, Kobo offers you a whole world of reading. Other than that, I enjoyed this book and I think younger Beyoncé fans who know about her but haven't actively followed her career will find this unique and inspiring.

In all, this isn't a must-read - I've literally been picking away at it for years - but it reads well enough and definitely gives you the inside scoop on what went down throughout large swaths of Bey's career (the breakup of Destiny's Child in its various formats is definitely a highlight). She is a Founding Board Member and the first President of the Luanda Africa Sister City Association, and currently she serves on the board of advisers for Huvr Inc. It was as a member of Destiny’s Child that Beyonce first launched her career in 1998, but in 2003 her debut solo album, Dangerously in Love, rocketed Beyonce Knowles to stardom.

I was able to put together parts of her story I had seen or experienced but was too young to understand and that really surprised since I wasn't expecting to find anything new. Her parents noticed how much stage performance helped their shy oldest daughter and started putting her in pageants. I was actually reading it like it a trashy tabloid or a having a conversation with a noisy old woman in her neighborhood, talking bout “GIIIIIRL, you ain’t never gone guess what I saw this morning. The singles “Run the World (Girls)” and “Best Thing I Never Had” hit the charts at number twenty-nine and sixteen, respectively. It’s a novel about identity, grief and discrimination, and resonates deeply with albums such as Lemonade and the Afrofuturism of Beyoncé’s 2020 visual album, Black Is King. I guess since it’s a book about her life it’s connected to what made her who she was, but it spent a little *too* much time on it in some parts. Versace, Bottega, Balenciaga, Givenchy and Louis Vuitton are just a few of the brands saluted in her 2022 Renaissance album, and Anna Wintour even handed Bey creative control of the September 2018 issue of American Vogue.
