The next morning, Hurricane managed to lure James to the steelworks after meeting him at Bridlington. He and Frankie's plans were thwarted again, however, when Thomas returned to help James escape with the help of Theo, Lexi and Merlin. In the ensuing chase, Hurricane's wheels were partially melted by molten steel. He was thankfully saved by Merlin, but the damage to his wheels left the steelworks down one engine. After Frankie explained that they had only been imprisoning engines because they were in desperate need of help, Thomas suggested that the experimental engines - who had no work - could assist them from then on. Following Thomas and James' return to Sodor, Hurricane's wheels were mended and the five engines now run the steelworks together.

Lexi is an eager and excitable engine. She is proud of being experimental and 'cab-forward'- even though she is convinced this makes her an un-useful engine. Merlin along with Beresford are the only characters introduced in Journey Beyond Sodor to appear in an episode.Theo fretting and saying "I think I can't, I think I can't" is a direct reference to the famous children's book The Little Engine That Could. With this being the last DVD of the original series and very likely that Mattel would be more focused of releasing future Thomas episodes entierly on Netflix only, since that is future of home entertainment, I think I'm done with reviewing DVDs and I'm kinda glad as they were becoming a bit more of a chore instead of something as fun. This blog will still be up but don't expect many posts from me from time to time, the ' Journey Beyond Sodor' re-review will be happening still and don't expect a retrospective post of the DVDs from this year since there were only two released this year. Throughout most of the special, Hurricane's siderods connecting his four rear most driving wheels are not linked to those connecting his foremost six wheels, giving him the appearance of a 0-6-4-0 wheel arrangement rather than the correct 0-10-0 arrangement. He is however very loyal to Frankie, and follows her lead, trying his best to keep up with her plans and help her realise her schemes. Hurricane turns a bit of a blind eye to the mean side of Frankie, preferring instead to see her as a loyal companion.

According to an early leak on the names of the seventh series characters, Arthur was originally going to be called Clarence. It was then changed to Arthur, when a television magazine ran a competition to give him an official name, and that was the one chosen. Arthur was named after Arthur Sharp, the late grandfather of competition winner Luke Sharp. Sorry." said Hurricane nervously. "You see, your brother broke down so I had to take his train today. He said it was more important to get his passengers here on time." Being Percy ( cameo), Fuss and Fumes, Too Tired, Thomas' Crazy Day ( does not speak), Winter Wish ( does not speak), A Lion on Sodor, Playful Passengers ( cameo), Slowcoach Diesel and Creaky Cranky When the official Korean transcript was released on the internet, this special's initial Korean title was "메인랜드 모험기" (meinlaendeu moheomgi), which means "Mainland Adventure". According to the 2013 Writer's Bible and 2015 trading card, Cranky is a hybrid design, based on various Tower Cranes that were mainly manufactured by the Stothert & Pitt Company of Bath, England. [4] LiveryOn Milkshake! in the UK on New Years Day 2018. It was later also repeated on Milkshake! on Easter Sunday 2018. An image of Thomas from this special is re-used on the spine of the DVD release of the next special, Big World! Big Adventures!. However, underneath that temperamental, apathetic, and crafty exterior, it is revealed that she only acts the way she does because she just wants help from the other engines due to the busy work schedule that she and Hurricane currently have.

Series 10 - Help From Your Friends ( cameo), Which Load for Rosie? ( cameo), What Makes Salty Happiest? ( cameo) and What is Henry Thinking? The only special where Vinnie, Carlos, Rajiv, Yong Bao and the Fat Clergyman do not appear since their introductions in The Great Race. Merlin, Hurricane and Frankie are the first engines in the television series to have their numbers written on their front buffer beams. Prior to this, the feature was exclusive to The Railway Series. During The Most Important Thing is Being Friends, Beresford can be heard singing before he visually does. Thomas the Tank Engine is happily going down his branchline with Annie and Clarabel, but as he enters Knapford, a cheery James the Red Engine begins to boast about him being the Fat Controller's favourite engine, which Thomas heavily disagrees with. James then calls everyone's attention in the station and allows Thomas to explain how he is more important, but before he can, James continues about himself before departing. Thomas is still fuming over James' boasting as he collects pigs from Farmer Trotter's farm, and James passes with the Sodor Brass Band.

NWR Editorials

When Thomas travelled to the Mainland, he befriended the experimental engines: Theo, Lexi and Merlin. Theo and Lexi warmly welcomed Thomas and Theo hauled Thomas to refill his coal. Later, Theo, along with the other experimental engines, helped Thomas rescue James, who had been trapped in the Steelworks. Cranky has an intense dislike for Salty's stories and Charlie's jokes. According to one of Salty's tales, Cranky is "the Monster of Brendam". He is hard-working, easy-going, generally cheery and his kindness cannot help but show through. He also proved very brave and selfless as he put himself in danger to save Thomas when he was dangerously close to mollted slag, getting his front wheels melted in the process. According to Michael White, Theo may have been intended to appear in the twenty-fourth series double length episode, Thomas and the Royal Engine, but was dropped due to time constraints. The first special in which vehicular characters are able to move their bodies, in that they perform when they speak or look in different directions, which while debuting in the preceding CGI series, was made more prominent as of this special, as well as the new comedic devices.

During a few scenes after Thomas runs into Beresford and also during the "Who's Thomas" song, Thomas can be seen turning his face sideways to look up at him.
