The temperature on the Moon varies from super hot to super cold! When the Sun hits its surface, temperatures can reach a scorching 127°C.But when the Sun ‘goes down’, temperatures can plummet to around -153°C. Brr…

What I particularly loved about this book was the additional Moon Magic correspondences, such as crystals, oil recipes, herbs, colours, written guided meditation, spells and moon cycle ritual. I know from my own personal practice that it is such a huge relief now to have this "Go To Moon Magic Bible" to discover what crystals and herbs I should be working with in a particular moon phase.Isadora is very excited about her mermaid friends’ sleepover. There she meets Esmeralda, a mermaid who doesn’t seem very happy. What could be the matter with her? Of course, an underwater adventure is the best way to make friends! Ian McDonald is a Hugo Award–winning novelist who has written books about Martian colonization , nanotechnology, and artificial intelligence . His latest series of Luna books are set in a near future where the moon is ruled by five families on a neofeudal basis. IEEE Spectrum invited him to share a selection of moon-related books that have moved and inspired him. Alice Nuttall (she/her) is a writer, pet-wrangler and D&D nerd. Her reading has got so out of control that she had to take a job at her local library to avoid bankrupting herself on books - unfortunately, this has just resulted in her TBR pile growing until it resembles Everest. Alice's webcomic, writing and everything else can be found at https://linktr.ee/alicenuttallbooks I don't know what I watched that afternoon, but I know what I saw: humans on the moon. Here are five books—fiction and nonfiction—that recapture that wonder of that memory National Geographic Kids is an exciting monthly read for planet-passionate boys and girls, aged 6-13!

The Astronaut Wives Club, Lily Koppel (Hachette, first edition 2013) Photo: Grand Central Publishing The Astronaut Wives Club Half vampire, half fairy, totally unique! Isadora is special because she is different. Her mum is a fairy and her dad is a vampire and she’s a bit of both. Isadora and her family are visiting the Frost Festival, a huge celebration of the winter fairies! There’s ice skating, fairground rides, gingerbread houses, and lots of delicious fairy hot chocolate. It’s magical! But in the hustle and bustle, Isadora gets separated from both her family and Pink Rabbit. The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress, Robert A. Heinlein (G.P.

I am particularly pleased with the Planting with the Moon chapter; this is such a simple aspect of biodynamic agriculture but so many people forget the impact the Moon has on plants and the soil. I’ve often used lunar agrarian principles for my own garden and others’, but this chapter teaches me things I never knew and will definitely implement myself. We move from the phases of the moon into the seasonal moon and examine different ways of using a moon calendar including relating it to the controversial Celtic Tree calendar. I’m glad she includes this though; it shows that moon magic and timings are not just for Wicca, but for any path. As the Moon travels, it rotates on its own axis, just like our planet. It takes roughly the same amount of time for the Moon to make a full rotation as it does for it to complete its orbit. This means we only ever see around 60% of the Moon’s surface from Earth! The part that faces Earth is known as the ‘near side’ and the other, the ‘far side’.

There are in depth chapters that focus on each of the moon phases; waxing, waning, full and new. However it also details how the waxing and waning gibbous moons can be worked with effectively, something I haven't seen in any pagan book that I have read. Disfruta de la lectura con las encantadoras y divertidas aventuras de Isadora Moon, ideales para lectores a partir de 7 años que quieren flores y purpurina, pero a los que también les atrae el mundo misterioso de los vampiros. Además, en este volumen de la colección “Grandes historias de Isadora Moon”, encontrarás el siguiente contenido extra: Isadora will have to teach them that there are things that aren’t as scary once you get to know them. Eagle landed it was 8:17 p.m. in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where I lived. Armstrong didn't set foot on the surface until nearly 3:00 a.m.

Isadora Moon is special because she is different. Her mum is a fairy and her dad is a vampire and Isadora is a bit of both. Like Earth, the Moon has gravity (the force that pulls things towards the ground). But the Moon’s gravity is weaker, only one sixth of the Earth’s gravity, in fact. That means you’d weigh much less if you were to stand on the Moon!In my opinion, reasons to go to the moon are few, reasons to stay fewer. Yet John Kessel's novel, The Moon and the Other, gives one of the cleverest rationales for settling the moon: It's a giant social science laboratory. In the year 2149, 3 million humans live on the moon in 27 distinct cultures. One culture is the Society of Cousins, where men trade political rights for social status so as to limit the potential for male violence. That society rubs up against the more traditionally patriarchal Persepolis, which has evolved from an Iranian experiment in secularism. Four characters experience relationships, love, and other disasters in a rich social comedy. The book is witty, charming, and light-footed, hitting its targets with elegant precision (think of it as a fencer's foil, while Heinlein's novel is a brass cannon). Kessel takes a smart look at the fallibility of human institutions, but also argues that there's hope in our imperfections. Rachel also details how the moon is related to the Triple Goddess and includes a guided meditation for you to follow, she does this also for the Moon Dieties chapter where she shares short insightful information on some of the goddesses one may choose to work with.
