What, exactly, is a “skew”? Basically it’s something that asks a difficult question of your opponent (do you have a counter to armor, for example) and then leans hard into that question with redundancy. The classic example is a double heavy list; maybe your opponent has enough Impact to deal with one heavy, but not two at once. Or the old school triple Tauntaun list; perhaps your opponent could handle one aggressive creature trooper in their face, but what about three at a time?

I’m not saying don’t do it, but accept you’re taking a risk. Plan your deployments accordingly. Corps What does it mean for a list to be “counter meta”? First, we have to talk about what a “meta” is in the first place.

Star Wars: Legion is played over the course of six rounds as you and your opponent duel over objectives on a battlefield of the Galactic Civil War. At the end of six rounds, the player with the most victory tokens (earned from objectives) wins the game. Most of the units, with all the emplacement troopers, ask you to play more passively. Legion is a rapidly growing game and at the time that this article is written Atomic Mass Games just announced the next expansions to the game will be based on the battle for Kashyyyk. This expansion will introduce Jedi Master Yoda, and new Wookies units for that can be added to both Republic and Rebel armies, while Separatists will see Magnaguard and a Super Tactical Droid that can be played as a named character or a second generic character. All these units will come with new abilities to the game and grant each faction additional options while forming their strategy. With a growing community of fans and plays, Legion will not be going away anytime soon.

Unfortunately, you do have to take at least 2 of these guys. You need 3 troopers, and your only other option is taken as a detachment to these guys. So let’s make the most of them. This thing is really cheap now, and it’s also a dedicated Impact unit, which is a rare commodity on the Rebel roster. In a world where you still need to tech against Dark Troopers lest you get run over by them, the FD Cannon fulfills an important role for a reasonable cost. With a number of Heroes and strong units the republic is a real difficult army for any opponent to face. What do I buy next for the Republic? These are units that are still good, but often need to have specialized lists build around them or require some more familiarity with game mechanics. Oh yeah, this thing still exists. While the (entirely justified) changes to closed transports made it much harder to deliver a W key unit to your opponent’s doorstep, the A-A5 is still a reasonable price for a support vehicle, and you’ll soon be able to put tiny, cheap murder bears in one of these, if that’s a thing you want to do.
