About this deal

PRE PROGRAMMED SETTINGS Intelligent settings help your grinder achieve perfect results regardless of how fine or coarse you require your beans. The Sage dose control coffee grinder comes with two removable portafilter holders ranging which accommodates portafilters from 50mm-58mm (pretty much any espresso machine). Pre Infusion Function: Gradually increases water pressure to gently expand grinds for an even extraction. At this point I took it apart, expecting to find a pebble, and I didn't find anything in the burrs except coffee beans.

This is actually quite complex, and it's a hotly debated subject, but most experts agree that the most important element of coffee grinding is the consistency of particle sizes. The Baratza Forte for example, the BG version with the stainless steel burrs, is a stonking grinder for manual brew, which I think is fair to say will out-compete the Smart Grinder pro. For several years after this, this didn't happen again, and I do think it's actually quite rare, but I have heard from a few people who have had this same issue over the years. So if you were looking for a review from someone who really put this grinder through its paces, I'm doubtful you'll find many reviews for this grinder from people who've had quite as much experience with it as I have. This Sage coffee grinder ensures that your kitchen will soon be full of the delicious aroma of grinded coffee beans; just what you need to ensure that your day starts off in the best possible way! BUT I have also read enough complaints regarding reliability and malfunctions after 2-3 years of home use, which made me doubt about Baratza. In reality, though, I find that at the factory pre-set 6, there's a bit more fine grinding range to be had by dropping it to grind size 5 if you find you need it.

Just wondering what number I should try on the Smart Grinder to get an approximate equivalent to the Oracle Touch 27? Although Sage, after some persuasion, have offered to replace my machine, I think I will be in the same position around a year’s time. This is especially helpful first thing in the morning, and helps ensure your coffee has the same great taste every time you filter it.Friendly Coffee Fund: We give back 1% of all sales to our coffee fund which supports coffee growing communities. In addition, its built-in safety system prevents overheating so your coffee stays at peak flavour without burning or bitter taste. You can’t really rely on timing for dosing, you really need scales, and the timing then is just there as a guide. I didn't actually break it, though… I'll explain later what had happened, now that I understand what I'd done, but I thought I'd broken it.

This particular grinder did have a few minor issues in its earlier designs that Sage have managed to iron out. Considering each espresso shot weighs roughly 20g that’s around 20 shots of coffee (minus a little for dialing in your shot). In other words, it was the environment that the coffee machine was in, in which the changes were happening, not the hopper, but the hopper wasn't providing any protection against this change in humidity. The Sage Dose Control Pro Grinder can make life easier no matter which coffee machine or brewing method you use. If you are new to grinding your own coffee, you will soon realise that there is no perfect grind setting and different beans will require adjusting the grind size (even the same beans may require adjustment as they age).If you do want to work with light roasts, by the way, just keep in mind that you'll need a more commercial-grade grinder for that. The Smart Grinder Pro also features a clear LCD screen that shows the current grind setting, time, as well as the number of shots. I would recommend only leaving enough coffee in the hopper for two or three days worth of espresso and keeping the rest in an airtight coffee container. I’ve now changed the internal setting on my burrs down to 4 – using your “zero point motor noise” approach it seems that the zero point is at 1.

This is a little twist in the story, but fear not, it's a story with a happy ending, and it turned out that it was me that was broken. This isn't a particularly messy grinder, the majority of coffee grinds that fall out of the portafilter, for example, will remain inside the grinds catcher, which slides out to be emptied, and then just slides back in again – and connects with a satisfying clunk thanks to the magnet on the back. We take a look at the two Sage Grinders that are being produced at the moment and help you select which one is right for you. The coffee grinder comes with fittings for two different portafilter sizes as well as a container to collect the grinds if you are brewing anything other than espresso. Warranty: 2-year limited manufacturer's warranty (Please note: Sage products covered by this manufacturer's Guarantee are intended for private household (non-commercial) use only.If you're doing this, you may as well leave them in the bag and just leave the bag open, as the hopper (any hopper, not just the hopper on the Sage grinders) doesn't protect against the environment. I’m not likely to grind for espresso as I much prefer having one out in a cafe, and tend to make mokapot most of the time in the mornings (I like strong coffee lol). I can’t decide which of the sage grinders to get – it’s usually only for me so I don’t need the big bean hopper, but I like the lcd display on the pro one. This means that they’ll send one of their coffee experts to your home to ‘tune’ your Smart Grinder in to your Dual Boiler, so you’ll have the right grind size and dose volumes for your favourite beans from the start.
