Trevor Horn's masterly production skills are very much to the fore on this wonderful constructed pop album of the early 1980s. The majority of the album was recorded at Sarm East Studios in London, with additional work done at Abbey Road, Townhouse, RAK and Good Earth studios.

So glad I did as not only is there the original LoL but rare stuff and live tracks which on the whole are amazing. The Lexicon of Love was again performed live in its entirety on 18 December 2012 at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane to mark its 30th anniversary. in their ongoing Blu-Ray Pure Audio series, following on from their releases of my remixes of Tears For Fears “The Hurting” (No. Homegrown soul produced by Trevor Horn and including the pop hit "Look of Love", The Lexicon of Love is bursting with hooks, clever lyrics and synthetic funk-inspired grooves that hold up better than most others from the early 1980s.

My remix of ABC’s classic 1982 album The Lexicon of Love was released on 4th August 2023 for its (somewhat belated) 40th anniversary. Retrospectively, AllMusic found Horn's production to be "dense and noisy, but frequently beautiful", while "the group's emotional songs gave it a depth and coherence later Horn works (.

It was released on June 25, 1982 and reached number 1 in the United Kingdom and number 24 in the US Billboard 200. Lauding the "pristine pop songs", he declared that it "remains a benchmark of 80s pop, and a formidable collection of melodramatic love songs assembled in one neat package. In The Encyclopedia of Popular Music, Colin Larkin awarded the "superb" album 5 stars (outstanding). This ABC blu-ray audio is No 12 in the ongoing SDE Surround Series and will be packaged the same as previous editions and ships with a free, collectible SDE Surround Series slipcase with the number ’12’ on the spine (the one in the vinyl box comes in a simple card sleeve).

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Supporting SDE with these initiatives is leading to similar collaborations with labels/artists and we are keen to bring your more in the near future! Between November 4 and 9, 2015, the band and orchestra also performed at Liverpool's Philharmonic Hall, Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, Sheffield City Hall, the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in London and Symphony Hall, Birmingham.Decked out in tailored suits and gold lame, the Sheffield quartet - fronted by the elegant Martin Fry - pounced onto dance floors in October 1981 with the splendid "Tears are Not Enough". Lead vocalist Martin Fry said that they had wanted to fuse the attitude of punk and the sophistication of disco.

ABC appeared at a turning point in pop, as the rough and tumble of post-punk gave way to a more sophisticated, lithesome Brit-funk, expounded by bands like Pigbag and Funkapolitan. There are 4 classy singles featured here:- 'Tears Are Not Enough', the punchy 'Poison Arrow', 'The Look Of Love' and, best of all, the gorgeous ballad 'All of My Heart'. ABC and lead singer Martin Fry were an 80's pop band and along with the likes of Spandau Ballet, Ultravox and Duran Duran brought out some great songs which are still classics and played extensively today. With the concept album, singer Martin Fry processed a separation, which the often critical to cynical lyrics make clear. I had this album many times over the years, first on tape and then on CD, I actually got this latest one just purchased from the USA as its getting harder to find it now. Don Waller of the Los Angeles Times praised the album, stating that Horn "deserves a share of the applause, but the songs — credited to all four ABC members — are the real deal: apocalyptic, widescreen romances with more hooks than a meat-packing plant.
