About this deal

It was my first time playing a board game completely solo and I thought it was absolutely phenomenal. Watching her pick up the defeated monsters and throwing them in dungeon while saying, “Into the dungeon! If at any time, a monster hits the wall, the monster is captured and sent to the dungeon, but he has destroyed the wall, and it is also removed from the game. My First Castle Panic includes some variations to make it easier or harder, and even has special rules for solo play.

We’ve even gotten out our old Hero Quest goblin and troll figurines to spice up the display and get into the fantasy theme even more. I understand it’s a kid’s game and luck is usually part of that, but I think this needs a little more balance. As an adult I also enjoy this game though wish it was a little more varied as it may feel a bit repetitive in time but for a dad and son game it is spot on. A great feature of this game is that all players can ask another player to use one of their cards on their turn, encouraging cooperation and sharing from the beginning, knowing that you are all working towards the same shared goal. I do still get the chance to join in our monthly community board gaming sessions, and that’s been great. But really, I just wish the developers had spent a little more time fine tuning everything so that luck couldn’t be as devastating as it occasionally can be.

If the goblins get to the castle, they knock it down (first an outer wall, then the whole castle) and you lose. Players trade cards, hit and slay monsters, and plan strategies together to keep their castle towers intact.Matching the shapes and colors is simple, and the icons that represent the special monsters’ powers are clear. Der kooperative Aspekt ist richtig sinnvoll eingebettet in eine einfache und trotzdem nie langweilige Spielmechanik. There are three monster powers that you will encounter: the monster will jump to the front of the line; the monster will push all monsters forward one space; the monster will push all monsters and also spawn another monster.

My First Castle Panic is a cooperative tower (castle) defense game for 1-4 players ages 4+ that plays in just 20 minutes. That being said, I have no questions about recommending My First Castle Panic for kids in the 4-5 age range. He also interviews other people involved in various facets of the board gaming community: designers, podcasters, authors, cross stitch designers. Have Justin De Witt and the Fireside Games crew struck the right balance between simple rules and engaging game play? I’m thinking before Monopoly and before Cluedo, and for me it was probably the frustration of snakes and ladders.Dad Suggests was created to share with others the many different things that we have loved sharing with our own children. And lastly, one might push all the monsters forward an additional space and require yet another monster drawn!

Of course, that plan backfired a little when I tried to capture a monster that wasn’t the closest to the castle. The hardest thing for them to grasp was the special abilities of the monsters (and strategy), but the iconographic is pretty clear, and after a few games I didn’t have to help them with that anymore. In My First Castle Panic, a group of monsters is racing out of the woods and coming right at your Castle! The Daughter loves the little monsters, though she is concerned why the runner monster has a band-aid on its head. Component-wise, all the tokens, castle, wall, and board are made from a nice thick chipboard which will hold up to a lot of playing. The cards are larger than the base game and nicely designed to show the color and shape as well as having a hero on it. Send out your brave defenders to match the color and shape of the space where a monster is to catch it.
