I suspect those of you that have a more technical background would prefer the app to have more flexibility / configuration options, but I guess that's the tradeoff you make to keep the setup process simple. I use NextDNS to monitor internet traffic on my home network, which shows the Deco X68 is sending network requests to domains owned by Avira almost every minute — NextDNS recorded over 42,000 queries in just 24 hours. Still, the lack of advanced options and settings in the app or web browser will be a deal-breaker for some people.

If TP-Link addresses the excessive data transmission (and perhaps improve the app's interface), the Deco X68 would be easy to recommend.

This setup will be used for streaming in 4k (sometimes two different devices doing so), some gaming, plenty of working from home including lots of WebEx/Zoom etc, telehealth, streaming lossless audio for my Sonos system etc. The main unit and secondary unit are separated by 3 brick walls and I'm getting 350 - 450Mbps at the second unit.

I might be misunderstanding something, because most of the tests I've seen from reviews seem to be internet speed tests, I would imagine that file transfer speed is the same, but I'm not sure. The Deco X68 provides corner to corner coverage and an extra 5Ghz band for a more reliable and stronger connection between Deco units.
