The story is long which I like as it allowed the story to be explored fully in a single story not divided into a trilogy which makes a nice change. Over a ton of orc dashed through the trees, sending small (and not so small) animals scurrying out of their path.

The Goblin Corps is a funny, well written story, told from the point of view of some pretty evil creatures. But despite the story, which feels quite serious and even horrific – the endgame of an undead sorcerer seeking to conquer the world – the author sends mixed messages about the nature of the novel.Much like he’s given the characters of Cræosh, Katim, Belrotha a unique and believable perspective from their side of the great struggle (in as much as I was rooting for them), Marmell doesn’t really play the whole good v. When he finally does his “cool thing” and reveals his secret stash of potent spells, we’re 300 pages into the book, and frankly I just didn’t care anymore about the character.

After the first 150 pages, it felt like an endurance test to push through the next 200 in the middle of the book to finally get to the point where the plot moved into the endgame.However, since it is the novel’s intent to entertain, not challenge intellectually, these drawbacks are hardly noticeable. No, the Charnel King still has a few tricks up his putrid and tattered sleeves, and the only thing that can defeat him now may just be the inhuman soldiers on whom he's pinned his last hopes. Although only about six feet in height—perfectly average, for his race—the warrior's shoulders were massive, nearly three feet across. His work includes scripts, novels, short stories, role-playing games, and video games, all of which he enjoyed in lieu of school work when growing up.
