The more the whiskey works its way into and back out of the oak, the faster it will mature while gaining character and balance. This whiskey is very smooth and warming, a great little addition to the drink cabinet, my grandad used to swear by a small glass of whiskey to keep colds at bay, he would have loved too. To blend the centuries-old distilling expertise of its home region into the traditional production of American whiskey, thereby capturing the best of both worlds on a new quest into the spirit realm. Don't be discouraged though, this is definitely not a chilli drink, it doesn't burn your tongue, but rather heats your throat, leaving a very lovely after taste and feeling.

Our Bourbon comes from the award winning Firestone and Robertson distillery in Texas, it is is made with yellow dent Texas corn, soft red winter wheat, six-row distiller’s malt and a proprietary yeast strain that was captured from a Texas pecan. For Horse With No Name they have developed a bourbon made from 71% yellow dent Texas corn, 21% red winter wheat, and 8% six-row malted barley, fermented using a yeast strain from pecan nuts. The flavour profile contains hints of vanilla, oak a dash of coconut, and from my taste buds I get a fruity cherry/strawberry yogurt, but then a zesty lime, not quite key lime sweetness but something like that. And so Horse with no Name was born, it’s a 4yo Texan bourbon, which is infused with a habanero pepper distillate from the Black Forest.

Though when drank neat, you can really begin to enjoy and appreciate the intensity of the habanero pepper (2% concentrate). An oaky, spicy bourbon, Horse With No Name is made with a combination of yellow dent Texas corn, soft red winter wheat and six-row distiller’s malt, and then blended with habanero chilli distillate to give it a fruity note. He added it offered “an intriguing new spirit, which is sure to become a talking point with consumers at the bar, as well as an original brand identity that we will be activating across the on-trade in the coming months”. Horse with No Name, a new bourbon infused whiskey that has literally swept me off of my feet after my first time trying it. The habanero chili was disseminated by Spanish colonists to other areas of the world, which led 18th-century taxonomists to mistake China for its place of origin – hence its scientific name, Capsicum chinense (“the Chinese pepper”).
