Description

The Kaweco Perkeo has been around for a couple of years now and is a decent, affordable, entry level pen, of comfortable proportions.

When screwing the barrel back in to place there is resistance for the last part turn which helps to secures it. I was able to improve the flow in my Sport with minimal fettling, however as this is a loan pen I’m not going to see if it works here. Certainly, the nibs move across the paper surface with considerable ease allowing more freedom for speed, movement and expression. I must confess that I had experimented, in swapping the caps around to pair a black barrel with a black cap, but you still end up with a coloured band in the centre.

Clear section and feed add to the looks, as does the clear converter and barrel as the ink level drops.

Im trying to decide if I should get a kaweco sport or a kaweco perkeo as my second fountain pen, I already have a lamy safari in medium nib. All four have the triangular shaped sections with the Lamy being the most pronounced, and as a result thinnest to hold. To recap briefly; this is a Kaweco’s entry-level offering for those who find the budget version of the Sport a little too diminutive. A full sized fountain pen made of tough plastic with a reasonable selection of colours and colour combinations it certainly peaks my interest.

With the close up of the nibs, from the top at first it is hard to spot the differences between the newer JoWo (on the Perkeo) and the older Bock (on the Sport) nibs until you look at the shoulders and outer tine curves, with the feeds on the underside the difference is a lot more obvious. I went for the fine nib as was worried the medium might be a little too heavy/thick for my handwriting style. This pen has a nice grip, my nib choice was medium which bring nice smooth strokes of ink to the page. Perkeo pens have an octagonal cap and barrel, a stainless steel nib and a comfortable triangular grip.
