About this deal

turn the valve 1/4 of a turn will dismantle the top of the valve from the base so you can gain access to the seal at the base.

Now use a pencil or something and push the little leaver back down, this should flush the toilet and give you an idea how it works. this is the cistern with the top off and you can see where the wire comes through and goes between those 2 white bits of plastic(which are cylindrical) but i can't work out how it holds it together? New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging .The trouble is that the pully /plunger assembly is on 2 guide rails on the inside of the unit and it gets stuck and gravity can't pull it closed after you press the button. I will let everyone know how I go on, may be a useful guide for anyone with a similar problem in the future. I've enclosed shots of the cistern and the "plunger" part attached to the lid via the blue tube and was wondering if you kind folks wouldn't mind taking a stab at what the problem might be and how to solve it. which looked to have identical fittings, could I replace just the valve that I removed with another version (rather than the base as well, as if that needed replacing I wouldn't bother), are the bases on them a universal fit?

I took off the cistern lid and poked around but couldn't make much sense of the workings - all the valves etc seem to be well hidden inside the plastic fittings and the way to remove them for inspection didn't seem obvious. It is quote new, we moved in around 8 months ago and I would say it's only been done in the last year or so. It's 2014 and the problem still occurs and WD 40 still works, but just make sure you have a good look at the layout of the little plastic box before you take it apart! In your first picture there is a big white bit and a big blue bit, you need to replace the big white bit, there is a seal at the bottom which has perished. The plunger on my flush has gone "tits up" and i have taken it apart to find that the wire has detatched inside the cistern, now, i can't see how to retatch the wire! I've looked around t'internet and it would seem the water running would be down to a problem with the flush valve. just had the exact same thing, kept taking the flush unit out, put it back in and it worked, just once tho then back to square one, lubing the plunger with WD40 works.

The only thing you can really do is take out the water undo the bolts from the inside and see where they fall away from. Derwent Macdee offers an extensive choice of concealed and exposed cisterns with dual or single flush, siphons, and valves. It can be put back in several positions, which allows you to adjust how tight the cable is when the button is pushed.
