About this deal

God grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, the courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Very inspiratonal, thought provoking, supportive and good sense in each short reading, one for each day of the year. I went back to the dean who had guided me into counseling and, for the first time, admitted to myself and to someone else that I had a problem with alcohol.

Belief has developed with my spiritual program, and I am able to face the daily pains and conflicts of life. Letting go of resentments does not mean we allow the other person to do anything to us that he or she wants. With time, this changes the way you see yourself and others, as you condition your mind to seek out and observe the positive more than the negative. Some things I seem to know intuitively: and I know that spirituality is involved in and affects everything. Today I humbly ask my Higher Power for the grace to find the space between my impulse and my action; to let flow a cooling breeze when I would respond with heat; to interrupt fierceness with gentle peace; to accept the moment which allows judgment to become discernment; to defer to silence when my tongue would rush to attack or defend. We try to see the good in the person or the good that ultimately evolved from whatever incident we feel resentful about. And I believe that daily reflections can help guide you each day in your sobriety journey, which is key for preventing a relapse and just living a more scripted fuller life.

Leaving behind anyone or anyplace we have loved may sadden us, but is also provides us opportunities for growth we hadn’t imagined. I had a copy years ago when i was in AA but lapsed for a while and 'put it somewhere safe' and of course, could never find it again when i wanted it! Don’t let the heartbreaks of the past cause you to become cynical, close you off to life’s magic and promise. For this individual, it was understanding that physical sobriety could be enough for them at the point on their own journey. Only Step One, where we made the 100 percent admission we were powerless over alcohol, can be practiced with absolute perfection. For as I come to know that “self” is part of god, that I am nothing except in His Being, there is no quarrel between self-reliance and God-reliance.
