I did find the dating and friendship sections a little repetitive at times (possibly because I was reading in big chunks) but the great thing about this book is you can go back and forth between sections. By writing it, I was acknowledging that someone might care about me; that they'd be able to say the right thing without knowing me.

This book is a collection of her newspaper columns from the UK newspaper The Sunday Times, so UK readers may have read these before. having loved dolly’s previous works, particularly ‘everything i know about love’ (which is an all time favourite of mine), i was excited to devour more of her words of wisdom. Her writing is funny but also poignant and actually gives time to problems individuals have that may otherwise be dismissed as ‘pointless drivel’.
