About this deal

It wasn't bad enough that their spouses were having an affair -- we had to have the kidnapping/embezzling/hired killer drama! It’s a slow burn that takes seed, initially out of grief and friendship but developing into so much more. There was no bullshit Double standarts showing an miserable heroine with an abused husband and an happy hero. The kids were amazing in this story, Aly did a fantastic job bringing their unique characters to life and they were such an important part to this story.

Eason thinks Bree is a judgmental ice queen, while Bree believes Eason is a musician who needs to let go of his dream and step up for his family. Okay so even the parts of this book that were supposed to be the interesting parts ( the first half ) just didn’t work for me.I really only read it b/c I saw a TikTok of people raving about it and the way it was marketed out to be was a lot better than the execution. Well I guess it's official, Aly Martinez is now firmly in my mental "hit-or-miss" author file folder. Aly Martinez é a prova que dá pra se escrever uma história rica, envolvente e cheia de reviravoltas em poucas páginas!

On the other hand, Rob and Bree are financially stable, own their own business, have two children, get along well, and have a pretty healthy romantic life. I appreciate the way Aly Martinez managed to destroy my heart one moment, only to stitch it back together with laughter and love in the next one. Eason and Bree, “friends” who barely tolerated each other, both lost their partners on a house fire, they were the only survivors. Not only was the cover gorgeous, seriously look at that cover, but the tropes at play sounded *chef's kiss* amazing. They’re married to each other’s best friends, so they spend holidays and vacations together, forming a family unit even though they don’t like each other.I’d spent so many years trying to build the perfect life with the perfect husband, the perfect kids, and the perfect company. I’m trying not to give too much away, so let me know if you need trigger warnings, which might spoil the easily spoilable plot. They are an amazing couple together and their love is something they build and not an insta-love kind of thing. They have to reluctantly work together to keep their makeshift family healthy and take care of the small children and each other even though they weren't super close before.

When tragedy strikes and they loose their spouses, they only have each other to go on and so they form a united front for the kids even though they’re totally devastated and grieving.El “blurb” nos dice un poco acerca de la historia pero no nos quita todas la sorpresas que contiene el texto. the comparisons to colleen hoover’s regretting you are pretty inevitable but the stylistic differences are so large imo that they’re far from being the same book. From the Embers is enjoying a sudden surge in popularity, and I’m very happy about that… because it was one of my Top 20 of 2021 picks!

I think this WOULD have worked better if their was an inclination of Rob being alive so that this wasn’t so left field. This story also has an edge of mystery to it, and also cute kids, so if you like all that stuff then you may like this book. Not only that but I feel by totally discussing this authors’ work in bullet points would be demeaning, as she has such great imaginative creativity, I could not do it literal justice. Through the ups and downs of co parenting and running a business and a household all those butterfly feels came out to play as Eason stole the show.

watching Eason and Bree prop each other up during their grief was one of the best aspects of the book. There are some big secrets revealed, some sweet moments with the kids, some sexy times and some drama.
