About this deal

The only thing to be careful of with some of the cheaper 0/1/2 seats (like this from Asda) is that the rear facing function is only valid until 9kg/20lbs which is really little. To see which child car seats have soared through our lab tests, read our Group 2/3 car seat reviews. Kiddicare also does test fittings, especially helpful if you have a smallish car like I do – some seats are wider than the space in a smaller hatchback, for example so you could end up wasting a lot of money. This legislation focuses on the height of your child and not the weight when choosing the right car seat.

There's nothing about foldability in either of the current regs as long as the seats work in crash tests. The award-winning Balance i-Size car seat is loved and trusted by parents for its unrivalled safety protection and easy-to-use functionality. As I had no Plan B, the lovely Dilip patiently talked us through the different options, giving so much the opposite of a hard sell that I wouldn’t have spent my money anywhere else. It's important to bear in mind that moving babies and younger children up to the next seat up before they reach the maximum weight or height for their current seat could lead to more severe injuries in a crash.

Home Retail Group Card Services Limited is registered in England (04007072) at 33 Holborn, London, United Kingdom, EC1N 2HT. If the shape of the seat or the seatbelt position make fitting it here tricky, put the seat on the left hand side. Group 1 extended rear-facing car seats are a popular option if you want to keep your child rear-facing once they have outgrown their Group 0+ seat. Bear in mind that your baby needs to be in a rear-facing seat at least until they're over 9kg, or over 15 months old if you have an i-Size seat. Many car seats on sale that are Group 1 are forward facing, although you can find some that let your child travel rearward facing until he or she is up to four years old. It seems better for safety (as I read here) and meets EU and US safety testing regulations as described here. But our testing has found that a seat that covers more than one group doesn't protect as well as it should throughout all three groups. Plus, they can be tricky as a parent when you’re leaning over your child into the car, especially if you suffer from back pain.

The Trunki Boostapak is a reasonably portable option for a 4yo though the Bubble Bum does much the same thing and is even smaller to carry. We aim to make finding these car seats as easy and hassle-free as possible, with various model types, isofix bases, and adaptors from brands such as Cybex, Maxi Cosi, Joie, Bugaboo, and many more. The recommended weights and heights for each group overlap, so let your child reach the top limit for one group rather than swapping when they reach the bottom weight of the next. It's better and safer to keep your child in the lowest group seat for as long as possible, rather than moving up groups too early. This Internet site provides information of a general nature and is designed for educational purposes only. But for us it was a case of Bubblebum or nothing at all and we felt that the Bubblebum provided a bit more protection than nothing for our 3 year old.
