About this deal
When Anthony dies he leaves both his estate and the responsibility for completing his life’s work to Laura, his housekeeper/secretary.
Many tiny stories that go along with the lost things are also scattered at random through the main narrative. But there is also another interweaving story line - Eunice, who has lost something and lost the love of her life (literally). There is an altruistic tone to the story rather than an obsessive covetous desire to amass belongings. Overall, a read I would suggest to anyone who wants a quick, quirky read that will lift their spirits.
One man asks the other man whether he likes being a taxi driver, and the other man says yes but then elaborates with an incident in his early career in which he ran down a man? We also felt that the characters weren't very relatable - all middle class with mainly quite elitist issues - and the serious issues were brushed under the carpet and had less focus on them. We work closely with publishers and authors to ensure that we offer the best books on the market for your child. The character of Sunshine, though endearing, was maybe a ‘token disabled person’ in the story; and the hauntings of Anthony and Laura by Anthony’s late wife were seen as probably superfluous.I loved the symbolic representation of these lost items, and how they resemble each character’s journey to finding their own way; their own home. He just wanted to keep them safe in case one day they could be reunited with the people who had lost them. The Keeper Of Lost Things by Ruth Hogan starts by introducing the reader to elderly gentle man Anthony, a man living alone in a home he shared with his wife.
