About this deal

It isn't as egregious as others I've seen and would be acceptable to many viewers for non-critical viewing in ambient light. There’s also support for the awesome 120Hz refresh rates now provided by decently-specced PCs and the latest generation of Xbox and PlayStation consoles.

TH685 maximizes available space with a range of throw distances for big-screen entertainment in tight quarters. com is a leading authority on technology, delivering lab-based, independent reviews of the latest products and services. Single-chip DLP projector DLP technology uses an array of tiny mirrors on a chip to make their pictures, and in affordable single-chip DLP solutions this chip is accompanied by a fast-spinning colour wheel.

Be amazed by hyper-realistic HDR details on massive Full HD 1080p projected images that put big-screen TVs to shame. Even though it's downcoverted, the BenQ TH685i retains great detail in 4K material such as season 5 of The Expanse.

A bit more maximum volume and deeper bass would have been appreciated, and a stereo rather than mono speaker output would likely have given the sound even more largesse. If you've chosen to block third-party cookies on your browser, your cookie preferences won't carry over from benq. Disappointingly, the BenQ TH685 is a ‘dumb’ projector – and it doesn’t have any included smart features to speak of.

If you can find a way to get absolute darkness, say, by taking the projector outside for a movie night or squirreling it away in a basement, you’ll regain some of the contrast and color levels, but don’t go in expecting the same saturation or contrast of a comparable LED-LCD TV. It measured 2,705 ANSI lumens on our sample, which is just over 77% of the published spec of 3,500 ANSI lumens. It is a cheaper solution recommended for in-home use, where projection quality and reliability are not as crucial. It only actually runs at 50hz, but the biggest issues are with brightness and resolution quality, which is supposedly 1080p. There are two buttons to access the Android TV settings or the projector settings, and even though the one for the projector settings is clearly marked "Projector Menu," I habitually pressed the button with the gear on it that opened up the Android TV settings.
