About this deal

I have used this tool over a period of about 12 month a few times, cut some tiles, plastic and light sanding. Have to say I'm not impressed, it's an expensive tool to be throwing out after using just 6 times but I think that is where it is heading. Finally, each new sanding sheet somehow damages the pad, after a dozen or so sheets the pad is pretty much ruined. The result of that was that I had to use the apex sanding attachment to get some of the mitres to join correctly and that was a somewhat laborious process.

New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging . My wife got me one of these for Xmas 2011, in April 2012 the switch broke and Bosch collected it for repair. Operating on an input power of 180 watts, the Bosch PMF 180 E grinder derives its power from an AC source, offering convenience and versatility in various work environments. I was going to cut some square steel tube with it as well but realised it would be a bit to slow so switched back to the angle grinder instead. The blades are, admittedly, expensive for what they are but as long as you avoid hitting nails and other metal they last a fair while.

The Bosch PMF 180 E can be used in places where it would be impossible to reach with any other kind of saw. Has anyone found that when using this multi-tool by Bosch that the screw that holds blades has a tendency to work loose when being used? just to complete the scene, the Bosch machine was subject to the small sanding tasks on a home window, i do not use tools professionally i am a DIY renovator in my spare time.

Testing showed that the fault was on the speed regulator printed circuit board but nothing obvious (like the triac). Got this tool as a birthday present October 2011 I only use it for light DIY and as such have used it 6 times at the most, having said that on those 6 occasions it was great but after such light use it has suddenly stopped working. Its suited to vertical cuts to remove sections of skirtingboards or the bottom of trims, architraves etc.

I have to admit that the reason it’s getting a review now is because I want to have a rant about one aspect of the tool which is absolute rubbish. Now that the laminate has warmed up it has expanded and requires trimming as it is too close to the central heating pipe. You also get two Blades, an allen key to change blades and a delta sanding pad and various grades of sanding paper. I’m actually considering glueing old sheets onto a knackered pad to see if that gives a better result – I suspect it will.Had mine only 5 months, only used for light work a handful of times and it just stopped dead, checked fuse which was good, no obvious signs of damage to brushes or anything internal!
