About this deal

I keep meaning to start this but get sidetracked with yard work and laundry, plus hubby was off yesterday so we watched TV together. It actually made me want to eat at McDonald's more often, since Schlosser wrote that they've dominated the US market for better quality beef and potatoes. because I love Medieval Murder Mysteries and phantomcougar found me this one I'd not read (thank you) and I've promised it to bluenoser because she hasn't read it either (you'll love it) so I want to get it finished and posted and because I need an entertaining break from Dancing Girls and Other Stories by Margaret Atwood which I'm finding rather depressing, although the theory behind starting a collection of short stories was so that I could pick them up and put them down in odd moments while preparing for the Amsterdam Covention which I then didn't get to.Very difficult read just because of the subject matter (I'll be honest, I cried quite a lot), but I pushed through and finished it because it was so compelling, especially since Joe went on to have a family of his own, despite the hardships he's faced, whom he treasures and doesn't treat in the horrific way he was treated as a child. I just do not understand how strong some people are, Joe Peters had suffered so much and it was painful to read.

His only elder sibling at the time who wasn’t abusive, still let Joe down in other ways when he needed him most. She had no idea I was pregnant, she just thought I was really sick and very tired for the past few weeks. I was depressed for over a year, wanted to die, and always cried, and then I couldn't do it anymore. This book was really disterbing for me to read and at times throughout it i literally had to force myself to read on.We Are Children Just the Same by Kurt Jiri Kotouc, Zdenek Ornest and Marie Rut Krizkova because I am fascinated with the period and its events and because BCer flewry was moving and I was very lucky. The fact that they're still walking around (possibly still abusing) is just as sickening to me as the abuse itself. The other two copies were checked out when I made the request, and have since been checked back in, requested and transferred to the libraries where the requests were made. I thought it was well written, but one of the most disturbing true stories I have read in a long time.
