Great scent profile, good performance, good value for money and versatile; everything a good mens fragrance needs to be. Actually I find that if I spray enough of this on my pulse points or whatever, rather than applying it as a walk-through cloud, the performance is quite adequate anyway. A classic by Dunhill This fragrance is simply beautiful, if there was a hall of fame this would be in there. This used to be a lovely spicy citrusy fresh scent with nutmeg taking the front but now it is at number three or four as fir, vetiver and lemon notes are more prominent.

Finally, the addition of lavender, a classic masculine floral, provides a familiar note that ties the fragrance together. In the beginning I really remember the classic "Green Malizia", but it has been a much better experience since the beginning! The complex musty, smoky character of vetiver adds a touch of mystery to the fragrance, and the citrus zest of Amalfi lemon provides a refreshing burst of energy.The designs of the bottle and cap are distinctive and elegant but the cap felt very light and plasticky. I hate what they have done to a lot of the classic eighties fragrances as todays versions are a pale reflection to the glory of what they should be. Dunhill Edition is a dead ringer for Cacharel Pour Homme and to a lesser degree Oscar by Oscar de larenta. I have about a 1/3 bottle of the old version and it spreads its fragrance just passing by it without even moving the bottle.

I would say this is more modern in profile than Guerlain Vetiver (which I also love) and it does not smell the same, but I could see it reminding people of Guerlain simply due to the Vetiver note, but they are quite different from start to finish. Maybe someone else can add more to what I've found but it appears there's some conflicting timelines in there.

Also I just don't get the whole tendency to think that a perfume shouldn't change, that the original is inherently the best and so on.
