About this deal

He obviously lost a lot of interest in F1 following the passing of his dad, and it’s kind of reflected in his last few F1 seasons in the book only being glossed over in a few paragraphs.

It's the before I knew nothing of - how much blood, sweat and tears went into getting Jenson where he is today. He reveals his relationships with some of the biggest names in Formula 1- Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, Fernando Alonso as well some of the most colourful characters like Bernie Ecclestone, Ron Dennis, Frank Williams and serial winner Ross Brawn. Often referred to by commentators in the past as an Ambassador for Formula I, one time world champion, Jenson Button reveals to the ardent fans a little of what goes on behind the scenes - the rivalry between team mates, the unrealistic expectations of rookie drivers who come in believing that speed is enough, the complexities of the car and changes that have occurred over the past couple of decades since Button first took the F1 car's wheel. Personally, I don't care to repeatedly hear how a man who earns more than I could ever dream of, continually wasted money on yachts etc.I knew a lot of his F1 stuff - from 2005-onwards, his Championship winning year, the McLaren years, because I've been there, seen that.

I’ve also always found Jenson Button’s various autobiography books to be good reads – his latest book “ How to be an F1 Driver” is a mix of conversational F1 topics including car setup and also thoughts on his life post-F1 including moving to the US and sports car racing.

A Honda ambassador, he is also co-owner of Rocket Motorsport and co-founder of Leger cycling apparel. There is also a couple of touching chapters that play tribute to his late father and how the impact of losing him shook Jenson to the core. There was an emotional chapter in which Jenson talks about his dad’s death and what happened the night he died.
