The Black Knight" is a bleak story which I don’t especially care for but I do like the way it concludes. The Trail of Discovery means the author leads the reader through a consistent set of rules and parameters for the unfolding of events.

I thought the first story started on a strong note, but after that the stories quickly felt too long and/or repetitive.But as the years have unfolded, Benjamin has grown increasingly untethered from reality, frozen in place while life carries on around him. Secondly, every one of them is dense and complex, in characterisation, theme and development so, for me, it was just impossible to race through them quickly. They feel quite appropriate for the way things are developing at the moment, maybe even prophetic, so if you are looking for a book to cheer you up when the current news gets too heavy, this isn’t it.
