About this deal

Joe cannibalises what's there to spark her stories - none of which are true - to rebel, shock, titillate and antagonise the intellect. After a suggestion from him, she notices how the stain from a cup of tea she had earlier thrown in anger looks like a Walther PPK, the same kind of gun her favourite literary character James Bond uses, and knows exactly how and where to end things. In both versions, the married man to whom Young Joe (Staci Martin), the titular nympho, gives a blow job — even though he begs her not to — climaxes passionately in her mouth. He ended his review with hailing the film, saying "Lars von Trier ends up hitting the G-spot of avant-garde filmmaking with a movie only he could ever make, and gives the open-minded members of the audience one of the most powerful and sensational experiences ever seen in arts.

Nymphomaniac" is a complex, serious and dark movie which amounts, in my opinion, to nothing less than cinematic gold. Joe's father asks her not to slander her mother, who is afraid of hospitals, for not being by his side, explaining they said their goodbyes. if you're coming new to him [von Trier], I think this is a real crash course in all his preoccupations. During one of Joe's regular walks in the local park, Jerôme finds her after separating from Liz, a coincidence Seligman finds preposterous, and they embrace.Joe is a firsthand witness as her father deteriorates from an unnamed illness, into fits of violent spasms, paranoid delusions and screams for his wife. Von Trier has long identified this version as his true vision (the svelte four-hour theatrical cut was made to appease international censors) but in contrast to Lucas’s dogmatism, he seems happy for viewers to favour whichever version best suits their attention span. Nymphomaniac (stylised as NYMPH()MANIAC onscreen and in advertising) is a 2013 erotic art film written and directed by Lars von Trier.

NYMPHOMANIAC is the wild and poetic story of a woman’s journey from birth to the age of 50 as told by the main character, the self-diagnosed nymphomaniac, Joe (Charlotte Gainsbourg). On Metacritic, the first volume holds a 64/100 rating based on 41 critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews". Ever since NYMPHOMANIAC was announced as Lars von Trier's next project it's been out in the open that the film would be distributed in different versions, ensuring financing, and as widespread distribution of NYMPHOMANIAC as possible, and finally to ensure Lars von Trier as much artistic freedom as possible.Executive producer and Zentropa co-founder Peter Aalbæk Jensen revealed that the film is to be two parts. Playful, provocative and at times painfully arch, each of these narratives unfolds with no apparent regard for structure or duration, giving Von Trier ample room to tease out the unexpected details that are always the greatest pleasures of his work. Long before the movie was released it was already creating quite a few controversies, especially since Lars von Trier announced that he would create real sex scenes and even thought about releasing a Hardcore and a Softcore Version of the movie ( News).

Taking in the whole of the singular human experience, including the body and the mind, sex and love, and all the connections between them, in the end the story comes full circle, almost as if it were a thought-provoking psychological insight into a world of sexuality, loneliness, and love. While recovering in the kind stranger’s apartment, Joe begins to recount a history of her sexual life from her childhood to young adulthood. As a result, Nymphomaniac is just the kind of scattershot triumph that a tediously perfectionist director like Lucas would scheme to bury. Slater got connected to von Trier via his agent being in Denmark and used makeup under his eyes to make himself look old enough to be Joe's father.A conversation about morphine dosing between Young Joe and her dying father’s physician was sad and moving. Cela fait 5 fois que je vois les deux volumes en censuré et maintenant c’est la première fois que je vois le VRAI en non-censuré et honnêtement…il n’y a rien de choquant. With the release of the seventh entry in the Star Wars franchise looming, conversation inevitably turns to the ongoing hostage situation surrounding the first three films in the saga. Everything we know about his murder, the two alleged killers, and a recent new arrest ahead of the January 29 trial. When looking for examples that would show that Joe's behavior is quite normal, he also talks about helicopters which actually tilt downwards when going up.

He goes on to confirm his asexuality and virginity, but assures her his "innocence" and lack of bias makes him the best man to listen to her story. Fortunately, we did make it to the premiere —which ended with the director being coaxed onto the stage by furious applause—and while his cut wasn’t incredibly different from the shorter version, there were some significant differences. Her father is a tree-loving doctor whom she adores while her mother is, as Joe describes her, a "cold bitch". Just as Lars von Trier gave consent to the making of different censored versions of ANTICHRIST, when that film was released, Trier has also approved of this version of NYMPHOMANIAC.Since most of the sexual images, including all of the genitals in the film, were supplied by professional porn stars and digitally added during postproduction, we can’t really be sure. There are several well-known actors in the film, including Christian Slater, Shia LaBeouf, Uma Thurman, Willem Dafoe, and Stellan Skarsgård. Principal photography occurred between 28 August–9 November 2012 in Cologne and Hilden, Germany, and in Ghent, Belgium.
