Alfie is the real star of this book, of course there are other characters, but you really root for him the most and he pulls through, to say the least. Alfie has a twin brother Richard and a little sister, Ellie but as he was born mere seconds before his twin brother so when his father the King passes away, the throne and all the power that comes with it will automatically revert to him. To make it worse, Alfie has always felt that his brother Richard would make a better king - he is popular, stronger and more sporty but unfortunately, rules are rules and Alfie must accept that one day he will be king.The finale involved Kitana leading a rebellion from Outworld against Kahn. The most notable aspect of the show was that it provided the debut of Quan Chi, who would go on to become a major antagonist in the game series. The series also featured the debut of the newly retconned Kano. His nationality was changed from American-Japanese to Australian following actor Trevor Goddard's performance in the first movie.

While Ruby did not exist in the games, aspects of her character (most notably her red ninja outfit) bear similarity to and makes her resemble Skarlet, a glitch character who would later become a full-fledged fighter in the 2011 reboot of Mortal Kombat. She is also a traitor to her home realm of Edenia, much like Tanya, who would be introduced in Mortal Kombat 4.

Cyrax, Sektor, Smoke, Rain, and Ermac all appear unmasked in different episodes, but their human descriptions therein. There are two support structures that make up the Mid-Section of each Cybernetic Unit (although there is a massive gap in the centre of both support structures), a square-shaped hole at the front of the chest of each Cybernetic Unit that doesn't close at all (even before, during, and after firing a missile), and both hands of each Cybernetic Unit have three digits (two fingers and one thumb) instead of five digits (four fingers and one thumb), that make them entirely different to both Sektor and Cyrax, however, the Cybernetic Units have the same Red coloured eyes as Sektor and Cyrax, even though Sektor generally has Blue Eyes, and Cyrax generally has Green Eyes. Although there is a little problem, As the Main Character, Alfie is inconsistent, going from one way to another with seemingly no reason. To make it worse, I think there is little motivation involved when he decides to become The Defender aside from duties. But, Hayley is an interesting character, if anything, I would not mind if there are some changes of POV at the subsequent series.
