About this deal

Overall, the only thing that would be nice to have is a tripod mounting hole on the base of the camera. This allows for more flexible mounting options. The DXR-8 PRO Reception & Signal Range The screen is very bright, even on the lowest setting. If you use it beside your bed you will need to turn it off. It includes a sound-activated mode that turns on the screen when your baby cries, which can help if you’re worried you might miss something but don’t want to sit hunched over a baby monitor waiting for something to happen. You can pan and tilt the camera remotely with the monitor and the range is excellent. We currently have our camera mounted to the wall about a foot above the crib at the corner and the camera can pan and tilt to cover the entire crib, so our son is never out of sight. The Eufy SpaceView is our preferred Plug&Play video monitor for 2020. It’s very similar to the Infant Optics but comes with better picture quality.

Infant Optics DXR-8 claims to be the World’s first interchangeable lens baby monitor. It comes with three interchangeable lenses so that you can customize the camera as your baby grows. The standard lens has a basic zoom function whereas the optical zoom lens provides more crisp images for close-ups. The wide-angle lens provides a 170-degree field of view. This is especially useful when your child can move about by crawling or walking. So, highly recommmend from A to Z. Don’t think you can go wrong with this! Also you can pair up to 4 cameras to the one monitor. We just move the camera around during the day, but you could install one in the nursery, on in the living room, and wherever else you like - and switch between them all with one monitor. We included two audio-only baby monitors, since we know some parents just don’t want to put a camera in the nursery. (You’ll also save some money if you skip the camera.) Compare the best baby monitors Range and battery life are top notch, and audio quality is as good as any baby monitor we’ve heard.

Question: How do you change the viewing camera when using multiple cameras with the Infant Optics DRX-8? This is with daytime lighting, and you can see that the 720p resolution provides some high granularity, while also maintaining good color reproduction, brightness, and contrast.

To test the night vision, we set the camera up in our basement guest room (it was daytime when we did our review, and this was the only place we could make completely dark!). FHSS technology is highly secure and was originally developed in 1940 for secret military communication and to prevent radio signal jamming and has continued being used over the decades in various industries, including baby monitors. The biggest scoring point for Eufy SpaceView is that the whole room coverage. You can pan the lens 330 degrees and tilt it 110 degrees. This covers all the corners, the ceiling, and the floor. Comparing to Motorola MBP36XL, the round dial is much easier to use than square buttons. The camera itself is compact and looks a little bit wobbly; we were surprised at how well it worked in testing, though. It seems clear that the limitations on resolution come from the small screen, and the low-light performance is great. For each video monitor, we charged the battery fully and turned off any screen timers to use as much power as possible, then waited for the batteries to run down.

Nap time is the reason we own baby monitors. By the time your little bundle of joy is sawing logs mid-afternoon, you’re usually more than ready to take a break and do something other than sit quietly in the corner. A baby monitor lets you close the door (so you can make some noise) without worrying that you’ve abdicated responsibility. We love our babies, but it’s great to be able to love them from the comfort of a downstairs sofa while they’re asleep in their cribs. The image quality here isn’t quite as good as Samsung’s, but the controls and battery life are far better. In our transmission range test this model also sits right in the middle: it’s nothing amazing, but for monitoring a room on the other side of your house it should be sufficient. When we took the monitor out to the detached garage there were some spots where the signal didn’t come through, but we always found a spot where it worked. If you have the screen off and the volume down, an LED bar will activate when noise is heard. The monitor's built-in speakers are very tinny, but they're more than sufficient for listening for important sounds like crying. Simpler Than a Smart Monitor Of course, the bottom also has a set of four rubberized feet so you can place it onto any flat surface near your crib. The handheld display monitor measures 3.1 by 6.5 by 0.8 inches (HWD) and features a 5-inch screen with 1,280 by 720 resolution. It sports a much more intutive interface than the original DXR-8, which is important, since you're accessing everything using four function buttons and a D-pad (which controls navigation and pan/tilt). Dedicated buttons for volume and brightness are on top. The Infant Optics DXR-8 supports up to four cameras. You can have all four of them connected to your parent unit and that parent unit only. Meaning, though you can have more than one camera watching over your kids, you cannot have more than one parent unit to view the videos from. You’re going to have to share the parent unit with your spou In our testing, the Infant Optics DXR-8 camera produced an average EMF reading of 1.89 mG when placed 6 foot / 1.8 meters away from our baby’s bed. This is the minimum approximate distance for most baby monitor cameras. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends that you limit your exposure to 0.5 mG to 2.5 mG at a time, so this is within range. The further you place the camera from your baby, the less EMF they will be exposed to.
