About this deal

The book also has been called “one of the most Detroit books I've ever read,” by Aaron Foley, a Detroiter whose debut novel, “Boys Come First,” arrived May 31, the same day as “Love Radio.." Parents who want their young woman to find a nice, respectful, young man who will treat them well should seek out Love Radio for their daughter(s). And, if you want a young man to see how a boy should treat a girl, respect for her, their family, their own hopes, dreams and desires, what kind of time and effort should be put into "wooing" a girl, this book is a God read for them, too. And, if your a teen yourself and happen to read this, Love Radio needs to be a book on your shelf! One thing many people forget is the art of "wooing". And, even though I am middle aged, I can tell you, my life didn't include alot of romance, men trying hard to impress me, nothing like he time and effort, the care, that Prince put into having a relationship with Ebony. In Love Radio, by Ebony LaDelle, readers meet two young characters at the time in their life when where they are dealing with major responsibilities; Prince, helping to care for his ailing mother, because of this, becoming the father figure in his brothers life all while working as a radio DJ with his own show, talking to callers about love all while playing music and Danielle, working hard to enter the college she desires more than anything, while focusing on her writing, her college essay in particular. Prince totally lives up to his name (and actually far better than most IRL royals). His mom has multiple sclerosis, so he helps out a lot around the house and with his adorable little brother. And he’s trying to sweep Dani off her feet — very princely indeed! But, of course, who saves the person who’s always trying to save everybody else? Especially when you’re one of the first people to do something like this for a city that does not usually get a positive representation, it comes with a little bit of anxiety,” she said.

Dapo Adeola, Tracy Darnton, Joseph Coelho and Chitra Soundar are among the 19 authors and illustrators longlisted for the Inclusive Books for Child...I read somewhere that the best lovers are best friends first. And Prince, you’ve become my very best friend. That’s what I missed the most. I missed our laughs, and our talks… and your clumsy ass.”

That's what love looks like. It's not always about the flowers and grand gestures, but this right here. Being completely yourself with another person in the moment, and them accepting no less of you.” Also, the mention of Verzuz implies that COVID at least existed, albeit in a world that probably has a better handle of the pandemic than the real one. When the romantic DJ meets the ambitious writer, sparks fly. Prince is smitten, but Dani’s not looking to get derailed. She gives Prince just three dates to convince her that he’s worth falling for. Mom follows me into the kitchen. “You’ll find love one day. And stop drinking pop in my mugs! Use a glass like a civilized human being.”Baby, I know something is up. You’ve been acting like this for a while now.” Her voice shakes a little. “Talk to me.” LOVE RADIO is mega swoonworthy, effortlessly cool, and full of heart. Turn this one all the way up." Casey McQuiston, New York Times bestselling author of RED, WHITE & ROYAL BLUE and ONE LAST STOP I loved how mature these two characters were. Even though they were teens, that didn't mean they couldn't have their heads on straight. They both had goals, and in spite of outside influences, they both were steadily working towards achieving the things they wanted.

I really enjoyed LOVE RADIO. It’s not easy to write in a way that’s both really natural and really emotive, but this book is very much both. I found it very easy to get lost in the story. The writing makes it feel as though you’re sitting down with someone, listening to them tell the story directly. It’s both entertaining and heartfelt, and I loved following both Prince and Danielle’s stories. I loved their families and friend groups, too.

I dart upstairs and dive onto my bed. I stare at the ceiling. I need to clear my mind, to think about something else. After taking a few deep breaths and waiting for my heart to slow, I take in my favorite place in the whole world—my bedroom. My safe haven. Prince Jones is the guy with all the answers—or so it seems. After all, at seventeen, he has his own segment on Detroit's popular hip-hop show, Love Radio, where he dishes out advice to the brokenhearted. It’s going fine, Dad,” I say, throwing away the pieces, and then deflect, “And Ma was watching Love and Basketball. AGAIN! Getting all weepy over the part where Monica asked Quincy to play him for his heart.” And even though there are a lot of heavy-hitting topics explored, there was also a lot of fun and humor in this as well. The banter between Dani and Prince, as they got more comfortable with one another, had me laughing out loud and, at times, blushing a little. Instalove is one of my pet peeves, but it’s thankfully nowhere to be found between our leads. (Sure, Prince has been harbouring a longtime crush on Dani, but that’s like and not love.) Dani and Prince really get to spend time with and know each other, because falling in love IS THE WHOLE POINT. It’s the journey that makes the love so much more meaningful and swoonworthy. (I didn’t give this book the highest score on the scale for nothing, y’all.)

You laugh now,” she says, catching me looking at her. “But wait until it’s your heart. It reminds me so much of me and your dad.”I absolutely adored this story. From the very start I was enamored with these two characters. Both of them were very well-developed and likable. It was so easy to get behind them and cheer them on. Content Warning: This book contains an incident of sexual assault, as well as its aftermath on the survivor. And then you got your supporting cast. Friends, colleagues, that one over-the-top person who brings comedic relief to the story.
