And now, thanks to 2014’s Moon Knight miniseries created by writer Warren Ellis and artist Declan Shalvey, there’s Mr. Knight. Steven is the civilian public face of Marc Spector, and Jake is usually just trying to go unnoticed while collecting information on the street. So, Mr. Knight takes over as the official representative of the vigilante, consulting with the police about crime scenes and talking to people in need of protection. While Moon Knight is more than efficient in taking down bad guys, he’s not exactly subtle, consumed by the desire to take bloody revenge on evildoers. So, Mr. Knight is Marc Spencer's personality to investigate a crime at night and work with other people while still wearing a mask and presenting himself as a hero. He shares a body with Marc Spector, a mercenary with the power to conjure a unique costume that grants him powers. Known as the Moon Knight, this version with an outfit inspired by Egyptian mummies is given to him because he is an avatar of Khonshu, the Egyptian god of the moon.

Artist: Mike Deadato Jr., Colorist: Rain Beredo, Letterer: VC’s Joe Caramagna, Writer: Mike Benson, Moon Knight #20 (2006) To cooperate with the NYPD without bearing the legal consequences of years of brutality, he reappears as the elegant Mr. Knight. Turning a blind eye to the true identity of this figure, Detective Flint describes him as “a concerned citizen” who shows up at crime scenes to assist the men of the law. With this, we come to the big reveal of the second episode. Unbeknownst to him, Steven Grant is also an avatar of Khonshu, having access to a uniform and powers of his own. However, instead of the crude hooded cloak-and-dagger version, he becomes a masked vigilante wearing a suit and tie.
Marc, the son of a rabbi, became a mercenary after serving as a Marine and CIA operative. Struggling with his morality, he found himself at odds with fellow mercenary Raoul Bushman, who murdered an archaeologist called Dr. Alraune whilst they were completing a job in Sudan. Marc proceeded to rescue Marlene Alraune, the archaeologist's daughter, and Bushman retaliated by mortally injuring him. Prior to his death, Marc took shelter in a tomb that housed a statue of the Egyptian moon god Khonshu; however, he soon returned to the land of the living. Khonshu, later revealed to be an entity from the Othervoid, had selected the mercenary as his representative and tasked him with protecting the innocent. To accomplish this mission, Marc uses his unique skills and dons a distinctive white outfit, supported by his colleague Jean-Paul ‘Frenchie’ DuChamp and Marlene. The difference is that, while in the comics, the suit and tie symbolize the wealth that this character possesses, in the series, it represents the fact that Steven has a gentler and more sophisticated personality than the hard-nosed mercenary Marc Spector. The new version still retains a certain level of fidelity to the source material since Mister Knight is a disguise often used by Steven Grant. Funko, via Entertainment Earth, officially unveiled a brand new batch of Moon Knight vinyl figures, showcasing fresh collectibles for Ethan Hawke's Arthur Harrow and Mr. Knight. The new Funko Pop! Television: Moon Knight: Mister Knight Glow-In-The-Dark (GITD) Funko Pop! Vinyl Figure – Walmart Exclusive depicts Mr.Knight, introduced in Moon Knight’s second episode, who is amuch-anticipated identity since the release of the first image of this costume. Meanwhile, Mr. Knight makes a memorable entrance in the episode. The MCU version of the character has been confirmed to feature Steven Grant being in control as he assumes the power gifted by Khonshu. In the episode, Harrow is able to (finally) obtain the mysterious Scarab, and signs indicate that it will lead to major repercussions unless Marc Spector stops him. Based on the installment's ending, the character's quest for the Scarab appears to be nearing its end as he sets off to unleash Ammit and his judgment on the world.
In 2022, a Disney+ TV series based on the character was released. The show stars actor Oscar Isaac as Marc Spector, and he is supported by Ethan Hawke in the role of cult leader Arthur Harrow. A New PhaseLike everything in Moon Knight’s trajectory, Mister Knight’s identity was built up little by little. It all began in 2011, in Secret Avengers issue #19, in which the hero uses one of his personalities to infiltrate the court of a powerful drug dealer. It's quite fitting that Marvel decided to give Steven his own chance to shine as Mr. Knight while still keeping Spector as the more violent persona as Moon Knight.
