Ms. Shen has become one of my go to author for romance genre. Her books, for me, are something that I like to read in between my fantasy/historical fiction. They are fast paced, and a bit predictable but I like them. So when I found this on my new release by the authors that I have read, I was very excited. That cover and blurb, of course I was going to read it as soon as it was released. This story is incredible, one that I won’t be giving away. You HAVE to experience this book through fresh eyes and no spoilers to 100% enjoy it and enjoy it you will.

Before I get even more carried away and blabber on further about my love affair with L. J. Shen, I want to talk about my favorite part of this book, the characters. Francesca and Wolfe are an unlikely pair, but at the same time, perfectly matched. They're complex individuals that bring out the best in each other, challenge each other, and understand one another like no one else. From their very first meeting, the chemistry between them was insane, and it just escalated from there. I choked on my own saliva. Did he just call the governor’s wife horsey? And me submissive? I looked away, ignoring the addictive scent of his cologne, and the way his marble body felt against mine.A pang of sorrow sliced through me. She deserved better than what he was offering. Better than a cold, foreboding man who sent chills down your spine without even looking at you. What I hated about the book is what I hated about every book I have read by the author. Instead of coming up with something new she is recycling her work again and again. And it's not that pleasant to begin with. And the blurb is misleading, it's not really a love triangle. The other man is just there to cause jealousy and stupid drama. But besides these two things? I honestly loved this and completely recommend. Especially if you like a good alpha dude, because Wolfe is literally the epitome of that. I had a blast while reading this, and was so pleasantly surprised to finish and realize that it was a standalone, too. If you’re looking for some sexy dirty talk, a whole lot of angst, and a little romance, then I completely recommend this one. I was FLOORED by this book! Words to express how much I loved it are so hard to find. The plot was riveting, the characters were complex, the book was so full of such an array of themes and emotions it has literally has it all! Lies, mysteries, passion, rivalry, depth, growth, banter, steam, forgiveness, truth and love. How LJ was able to convey a story that encompassed all of that and more just proves how talented she really is.

Huge 5 stars for The Kiss Thief. This story was better than I expected and unique in many ways. Wolfe and Francesca are so hot together! Wolfe is alpha, dark, brooding and cold but the author shows us he is vulnerable and honorable. Francesca is sweet, innocent, smart and kind. Her beauty glows bright from within and out! She is really a lady but she is strong and a fighter as well! And she is caught in the middle of a fight between two men. If you really love someone, do you fight for them or let them go? It was well paced; nothing seemed too slow or too rushed. Really, there's a little bit of everything in here, and it mixes well to give you an exciting read. Francesca Rossi is young, beautiful and very much in love with Angelo Bandini, the man she knows she will share her first kiss with, and eventually marry. This however, is not what happens. On the night of a charity masquerade in Chicago, she meets Senator Wolfe Keaton; older, tall, broody and deathly serious to a sharpened point. He secures a dance with Francesca, and discovers secrets that shouldn’t have been revealed. Wolfe uses this to his advantage as he wants to take down Francesca’s top mobster boos dad, and knows exactly what to do. He has her first kiss, and then her hand in marriage. This is where the story starts to really get wild…
