About this deal

Flavoursome and light, these popped chips compare well to others in the genre, especially on price.

Spicy Sriracha– A new flavour in the classic range, we unfortunately have no idea what they taste like as they contain sour cream powder from milk Despite bosses of Walkers (and Gary Lineker) wanting us to believe otherwise, there are plenty more crisps in the world than just Walkers. So, let’s take a look at the main alternative options for vegan crisp lovers. Doritos – Which Doritos Flavours Are Vegan? Lighter and with less fat than the conventional Walkers crisps, the Oven Baked range take some getting used to for crisp fiends, but they are worth the effort. Loved by kids (and adults) who can’t resist putting a Hoop on each of their fingers before scoffing them, both the Original and the Salt & Vinegar flavours are vegan friendly.

Akin to McCoy’s in flavour and texture, these sturdy crisps are perfect for vegans seeking the kind of flavour that is rarely available to people on a plant-based diet. These cheese and onion pasties are totally syn free if you’re using your healthy extras as part of the recipe, otherwise, you will have to syn them. So to keep theSlimming World Cheese and Onion Pasty syn free, you will have to use the wrap and cheese as your healthy extras, otherwise the pasty will be 6 syns, which isn’t bad at all, compared to a shop bought one. Crinkles only come in two flavours at the time writing. The Simply Salted flavour is vegan, while the Cheese & Onion is not. Remove chilled dough and place one half on a lightly floured surface. Take a rolling pin and roll out dough into a large circle, big enough to line the entire dinner plate.

Bake in the centre of a pre-heated oven for around 12 minutes, until lightly golden with a crispy top and slightly risen. Marketed as a healthy crisp option due to their reduced fat levels relative to standard crisps, these own-brand popped crisps are nice enough without having anything resembling a wow factor. Potato - Now, Greggs cheese and onion pasty doesn't have chunks of potato in it like ours does (just some potato flakes for binding), but that is what makes ours better in my opinion. It makes it more filling and comforting. Make sure to dice the potato really small, so that they are cooked all the way through. So, you may well ask, where’s the cheese in this Cheese and Onion Soup? Well, you’ll have to wait until after the next section to find out. Add the cooled onions, Cheddar and Mozzarella cheese to the sauce and stir until combined. Spread out on a plate or shallow tray and chill in the fridge for 10 mins.Mustard - This is our (not so) secret ingredient. Some Dijon mustard just makes this cheese and onion pasty even better. You could use wholegrain or English mustard if you prefer. If you want a different flavour addition that also goes really well with cheese, then add some marmite. Don't hate on marmite, it's delicious!

French Fries– While the Ready Salted and Salt & Vinegar flavours do not list any explicitly non-vegan ingredients, the manufacturer suggests they ‘contain milk’, so these (along with the Cheese & Onion and the Worcester Sauce flavours that do contain milk derivatives) are best avoided for peace of mind Pre-heat oven to 200ºC (400ºF). Liberally grease a 27cm (10 inch) round ceramic (heat-proof) dinner plate with butter (see photo above). These parsnip, sweet potato and beetroots crisps offer a decent alternative to the higher end (and higher priced!) veg crisp options, such as those from Tyrells. I love blue cheese, so I thought this was excellent. Used the leftovers for croutons in a mixed green salad with green apple. Tasty...Arguably the most pleasant vegan-friendly Pringles flavour, we recommend never buying more than a single tube or you really might end up consuming far too many calories for your own good! Press the edges of the pastry together to seal, then crimp with a fork. Make 3 diagonal scores across the top of each pastry parcel with a knife, be careful not to cut all the way through the pastry.

So it stands to reason that these Marmite-flavoured crisps from Walkers are also vegan (cross-contamination risk aside), and also very tasty (if you are a lover, of course!). These are so good we thought they deserved their own entry in the table. Some people love ready salted crisps, in all their banal blandness. The Tesco own-brand version does what’s expected of them and are good value. This shortcrust pastry can also made made with regular plain wheat flour or a gluten free all purpose plain flour. I have made this pie using both and they always work out wonderfully. A good plain all purpose gluten free flour from your local supermarket will do just fine if you’re gluten free. The lightly salted version is nice enough, but we prefer the more interesting options mentioned below. The Deli flavours that are vegan friendly are: Mediterranean Balsamic Vinegar, Roasted Garlic & Mediterranean Herbs (Pita Chips), and Anglesey Sea Salt. With a little less salt than the standard Ready Salted crisps, these will appeal to those who care about such things. They taste pretty similar. Roll out the rested dough into a long rectangle and repeat the folding process, folding down the top third and fold up the bottom third as if folding a letter, then roll it out into a rectangle measuring 30cm x 40cm. Melt butter with oil in large skillet over high heat. Add onions. Cook until onions are soft and beginning to brown, stirring frequently, about 10 minutes. Add rosemary, sugar, and salt. Season onions to taste with pepper. Reduce heat to medium. Continue to cook until onions are soft and dark brown, stirring frequently, about 20 minutes; cool. Step 3 Neaten the edges with a knife and then cut into your chosen shapes – I like triangles and rectangles in different sizes. You could use pastry cutters, but cutting into shapes, ensures there is no waste.
