Harlan Coben: "The Five est ma première série originale" ". TVMag Le Figaro (in French). April 21, 2016 . Retrieved May 9, 2016.

Okay, the writing was nothing spectacular; there were even times when I winced as he described something by using the item. Example: The great oak stood like a, well, great oak. Yes, this type of writing appears more frequently than I liked, but the writing is really not an issue with this type of book. I say this type of book, not this type of genre (or other genres for that matter.) Married couple David and Cheryl are floundering for many reasons, David has turned to the bottle and Cheryl is distanced from him, they are lying to each other and have lost their love. When their son is three he is found bludgeoned to death in this bed. Eventually blame lands on David, and he takes this, reminiscent of Lindy Chamberlain in Australia. Showing no emotion in court, therefore the judgement of the world falling heavily on his shoulders. The Woods follows a man hunted by a twenty year old mystery: His sister and three friends entered derelict woods. Two bodies were discovered. Two, including his sister were not. He lives every day with the questions: What happened to her? Will I see her again? The ending... not only the "what" but the ending with Ema? Holy shit.... loved it. Totally out of "left field". Well, now. From the moment following David’s discovery that his son is alive, this story had me holding my breath, especially while he was still in prison. I loathe stories about prison life so I was willing to suspend any level of beliefs until he got out of there. Then it became a journey to figure out not only where Matthew is living but why was David obviously set up for a murder and who was the child in that bed. There aren’t a lot of moments to breathe as the search for David by two highly skilled FBI agents was relentless and smart. David’s also resourceful, with a little help from friends, some from strange corners.

Harlan Coben is an American writer of mystery novels and thrillers. The plots of his novels often involve the resurfacing of unresolved or misinterpreted events in the past, murders, or fatal accidents and have multiple twists. Among his novels are two series, each involving the same protagonist set in and around New York and New Jersey; some characters appear in both. Ahora más que nunca Paul se hace una y otra vez las mismas preguntas; ¿Qué pasó aquella noche? ¿Está viva su hermana? 🤔🌳 Should the past be left in the past? Is it better to know the truth? Should we learn the secrets of others? What will someone do to protect the ones that they love? Win is a rich, handsome, expensively-dressed, well-coifed, blonde playboy. To look at him you'd never know Win's a sociopath - ready and willing to use all manner of weapons, martial arts, explosives, and other means of destruction when he deems it necessary. Win is super-protective of his friends (like Myron), but you'd never want to get on his bad side, as he'd kill you in a millisecond. Yet had Coben not imbued his character with such a disdain for women dressed as adoration and with such a paternalistic attitude towards non-white people, The Woods would still be pretty awful for the writing, which is awkward and uninspired; worse, whenever Coben tries to say something remotely witty, it comes out sounding like this:

Overall, this had a complex plot and was suspenseful at times. Most reviewers have enjoyed this one much more than I did. 3.5 stars rounded down to 3 stars. The pace was too slow. Overall: I read Coben’s books for 20 years and as long as I live and as long as he writes, I plan to read and get more thrilled in near future! I even named my dog: “Articulate “! David Burroughs is five years into a life sentence for the brutal murder of his three year old son Matthew. Except he’s innocent which, of course, most inmates would say. However, his first ever prison visitor over those years is his sister in law Rachel who shows him something that gives us pause for thought and consider that he might, just might, be telling the truth. Rachel is a former investigative journalist, so can she help David to set the truth free? The Woods" by Harlan Coben is a gripping and suspenseful thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. The book follows Paul Copeland, a prosecutor who is haunted by the unsolved murder of his sister and three of her friends twenty years earlier. When a new murder investigation uncovers a possible link to the old case, Paul is forced to confront his past and dig deeper into the mystery. The book is somewhat slow-paced at times and combines a legal thriller with family drama and secrets. There are plenty of red herrings and twists to keep readers on their toes and the ending is much different than I expected. Themes include rape, murder, family relationships and secrets, young love, threats, and much more.

This book was a "HOME" run! Coben really hit the "ball out of the park" with this one! This book was a total WIN/win. Ok... enough with the cheesy puns... even though they all fit the bill with this novel.

I Will Find You is a stand-alone story, although there is an appearance by an old favourite and a nod to another. In no way though so you need to read any other books to understand this one. This is the story of David, a man who has bene in prison for the last 5 years for the murder of his 3-year-old son, Matthew. He has always said that he was innocent, but guilty of not protecting him. Now, a photo has come to his attention, and it shows a boy that looks exactly like his son. And there the wild ride begins.

The story has similarities with one of my favorite Korean series “ Defendant” and the famous TV show/ Harrison Ford’s remake movie “Fugitive “! It hooks you up from the beginning! It captivates your heart, your soul, your mind at the same time. You cannot stop finishing. The pressure escalates at each chapter. You chant for David, screaming “ Run! Run! Run!” I won't spoil this for anyone who has not read it, but let me just say, that I devoured this book and loved every second of it. I don't recall having read a Myron Bolitar book where Win's point of view was in the first person, but I really enjoyed it and felt liked I was getting to know him more intimately. While I adore Myron, I will admit that Win is my absolute favorite character, simply because he loves Myron unconditionally. The banter between Win and Myron is as sharp as ever, with that trademark humor offsetting the darker edges of the novel. Harlan Coben's strength is pulling the reader into the story with a unique plot and interesting characters. This book focuses on David Burroughs, who has been in prison for the past five years for killing his three-year-old son Matthew. He doesn't remember doing it, but he had been known to sleepwalk and he had been drinking, so there's definitely doubt. His former sister-in-law Rachel visits, the first visitor he has had since being in jail. She has something to show and tell him that is almost unbelievable. A photo that shows that Matthew might just be alive. Now David is desperate to get out to try to find Matthew and uncover what really happened that night.
