a b c Wilson, Sophie (13 December 2010). "Ruth Jones: I have been fortunate to play parts that have not just been, 'Oh, you need a fat person' ". The Telegraph. London . Retrieved 21 May 2012.

Jones has also appeared in various television series, including Fat Friends (2000–2005), Little Britain (2003–2007), Nighty Night (2004–2005), Saxondale (2006–2007) and The Street (2009). In the New Year Honours for 2014, she was appointed MBE for services to entertainment. When Kate was twenty-two, she had an intense and passionate affair with a married man, Callum, which ended in heartbreak. Kate thought she’d never get over it. Ruth Jones is excellent on human nature and why we make the mistakes we do. I felt for every character. Unputdownable.' Jojo Moyes I love the way Ruth Jones writes. The relationship between the 3 friends is perfect and a wonderful book to read about friendship' In 2010, Jones took part in Channel 4's Comedy Gala, a benefit show held in aid of Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital, filmed live at the O2 Arena in London on 30 March.

Jones' second novel, Us Three, was due to be published in September 2020. It follows the story of three friends whose futures become unpredictable after an unexpected turn in events. [15] There must be something completely different in the way Americans and Brits read books. I found almost nothing cheerful about this book. What I found was the idea that two people can harm others and not care. At the end of the book the ex-husband, Callum, tries his best but I found him pitiful. He had hurt his wife twice with the same woman and seemed to be completely controlled by his hormones. Kate, his lover was so neurotic that she was exhausting to read about. They met in a pub, had sex that same night, and started an affair that hurt his wife and nearly ruined his marriage. Kate went on to become a famous actress and he stayed in Scotland as a teacher. They met again after 17 years and immediately started the affair again. He left his wife and young adult children, moved to London, and was miserable. He missed his ex wife and children. His daughter was in an accident which sent him home. His wife did not reconcile but became a friend. He wanted a reconciliation but she never did. Many years ago an American newsman, Paul Harvey, did a series called the THE REST OF THE STORY. It was about something most of us were familiar with but we did not know about the minutia of whatever it was. That is the way I feel about the end of this book. The rest of the story was Luca, who was going to ask about his father, and eventually find him. The son Kate had agreed to abort but didn’t. Callum never believed there was a child. We don’t get to read how those years of making peace worked. One day he went home. The next we read is that many years later he is still trying to reconcile with his ex wife. What happened all those years? I wonder if it was worth it to him? Once Luca showed up he would lose the relationships he had reestablished with his other children. They had forgiven him, married, had children of their own. By this time he was in his 70s. Kate, the mistress, was the most unlikable character in the book. She was unbelievably narcissistic and left so much human debris behind her that I found her unforgivable. We appear to forgive beautiful people for a lot of things but not for the things she did. She manipulated everyone. This is a story about mothers and daughters: the love inherent in that bond and the heartache that miscommunication can bring. More than anything, it's about the importance of being true to oneself. Meet Grace, Alys, Elin and Beca - a family you'll come to know, and to love.

For starters –it’s not just Callum and Kate we’re following in this tale. No, there’s Kate’s husband Matt and his best friend Hetty and Callum’s wife Belinda too … And we get *everyone’s* perspective with the omniscient third-person narration. We can even start a chapter following one person’s interiority, but when they make a phone-call to someone else, we’ll then get that person’s side of things too. It’s baffling that these basic fiction foibles weren’t edited and corrected, because they are confusing and quite clearly a TV-writing holdover (especially from Jones’ ensemble-cast writing) that she needed to be rid of. In January 2018, Jones took the part of Mandy Haveez in Radio Wales comedy series Splott, written by David Peet and made by Tidy Productions. "The Observer: Ruth Jones: queen of comedy". The Guardian. London . Retrieved 21 May 2012.

It was a completely different experience because there are no rules. I didn’t have to think, “Oh, I’ve got to write this to the part-break and it’s got to be X number of minutes long and will we have cast availability?” So it was great to have that freedom to be able to go wherever I wanted with it and also to be able to go inside the characters’ heads. You can’t really do that on screen unless you have a voiceover.https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/aug/18/lucy-letby-the-beige-and-average-nurse-who-turned-into-a-baby-killer Callum ha una relazione extraconiugale con Kate, interrotta solo quando viene scoperto da sua moglie Belinda. What's occurring with Ruth Jones?".
