About this deal

The two can’t really be compared. Profhilo isn’t administered to the forehead, for a start (the area Botox is most commonly used to treat). The effects of Profhilo feel more subtle compared to Botox or even fillers, as the treatment is designed to give the complexion an overall boost rather than to "remodel" the face. In my opinion, it's ideal for those with the budget to give anti-ageing injectables a go, but who don't quite feel ready for Botox or fillers. The best position for sleeping after Profhilo is with your head slightly elevated and facing upwards. Try adding an extra pillow or two. This will ensure any swelling you’ve experienced has the best chance of subsiding, and ensure bruising is kept to a minimum. What’s the Difference between Profhilo, Botox, and Fillers? Profhilo® is great for hydrating and helps to regenerate the skin when first signs of ageing appear,' says Dr Williams. 'The outcome is always very natural looking. However, for individuals with more maturely damaged skin, additional treatments may be needed to achieve the desired result. As a general rule of thumb, I would not recommend cosmetic injectables for people under the age of 25, who have young and plump skin without any signs of skin ageing or damage.' Profhilo is an injectable treatment that contains one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid available in a skincare treatment. It is an anti-ageing, skin-boosting treatment that promotes your skin’s natural production of collagen and elastin, and in short, it makes you glow. Profhilo works to vamp up - Profhilo is different from other dermal fillers despite being injectable. This is because the human body metabolises the hyaluronic acid used within Profhilo and these work coherently together, encouraging the production of natural collagen and elastin. Essentially, Profhilo skin injections seek to replace and renew the hyaluronic acid produced in young bodies to provide the illusion of more youthful and remodelled skin. Overall, it is highly regarded as a good tool for correcting skin laxity, provided it is administered by a qualified and reputable practitioner.

However, if you’re looking for a more drastic lift and remodelling treatment, you may want to look into derma fillers or finding more advanced surgical procedures to get your desired results. How does Profhilo work? Results - It is also worth asking what is in place if something were to go wrong. For example, what recourse would be available to you if something went wrong during the treatment. What guarantee can they provide you if you are unhappy with the results? The consultant should also discuss your suitability for the treatment, as well as make you aware of any risks and potential side effects, regardless of how major or minor these are. If you have any questions on this matter, you should ask and as an expert, the consultant should be able to answer these concerns or queries confidently. It might even be a good idea to write down any questions you have pre-consultation, just to be sure that you are not missing out on any important information. Things to discuss at your consultation As our bodies age, we gradually produce less collagen and elastin naturally - the cells which provide skin firmness, strength and shape. Therefore, when the number of these cells drop or weaken, your skin loses its clean and firm shape, creating creases and wrinkles.

How it works?

Both dermal fillers and Profhilo are injectable treatments and can be administered by trained practitioners. Although numbing cream can be used, many clinics prefer not to (it can make the appearance of bruising worse) which means ten injections to the face is going to smart a little. We often get asked, how long does Profhilo take to work and the answer is generally that you will notice the best results after your second treatment. Profhilo treatment is carried out in two stages.

Where botox and fillers are aimed at changing the way your face moves or its shape, think of Profhilo as the ultimate step in your skincare routine. 'Profhilo achieves its results through its action at multiple levels,' explains Dr Taktouk. 'At the deeper levels it creates structure and support alongside hydration which gives skin its bounce and plumpness. On the surface we see improved texture and tone and an overall healthier complexion.' Talk us through what happens... Thus far, mild swelling and bruising are among the only reported side effects associated with Profhilo treatment, which are both a natural consequence of injection. Even so, these symptoms often disappear within a few days and are no cause for alarm whatsoever. It is important to recall that any side effects suffered from this injection, if correctly applied, are actually from the fine needle used to insert the treatment, not the treatment itself. Profhilo is championed for having a lasting effect, stimulating four types of collagen, and increasing elastin. “The hyaluronic acid component goes after about a month,” explains Dr. Preema, “but the cascade of events continues.” This process, known as neocollagenesis, is the body’s reaction to injury and stimulates repair whereby fibroblasts (a connective tissue cell) go into overdrive and generate collagen. This collagen stimulation is said to continue for six to eight months for improved skin quality and a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. For many, Profhilo offers a less scary youth boost than dermal fillers or Botox. “Profhilo is more natural, and that’s what many of my patients are steering towards, and with it, you may actually realize you do not need as many traditional fillers,” says Dr. Preema. But it doesn’t have to be either/or as Profhilo can be used in tandem with other aesthetic treatments. In fact, combining Profhilo with Botox or filler treatments may mean those other injectable results last longer. How long does Profhilo take to work?

However, for more mature and aged skin, practitioners may recommend an additional session to reverse any stubborn aging symptoms or prominent skin problems. Alternatively, some practitioners will recommend increasing or doubling the dosage to 8ml of Profhilo treatment over the course of the month, with each session injecting 4ml. Yet this is something you can discuss and be clear with your practitioner about during your consultation, since it is up to you which results you are aiming for, the budget you have and whether you would like further treatment. Profhilo Haenkenium Cream is a rejuvenating anti-oxidant, topical formulae for all skin types providing both immediate skin hydration and long term skin rejuvenation results. Your expectations - What you expect to achieve post-treatment. This can be anything from targeting specific wrinkles, a guaranteed lift in certain places or general rejuvenation. It doesn't. Botox's role in cosmetic dermatology is to soften and prevent wrinkles by weakening the muscles around a certain area, such as the eyes or forehead. Fillers are mostly used to replace lost volume and to lift or contour the face. Profhilo plays a different role, one that's totally skin-based. While rebuilding your collagen and elastin will plump and tighten skin over time, Profhilo isn't designed to add volume to the face or change its structure the way traditional fillers do. “You will see improvement in superficial lines, thanks to the intense hydration and long-term improvement in deeper wrinkles thanks to fresh collagen and elastin, but it’s nothing like Botox or fillers like Restylane or Voluma,” Dr. Alexandrides explains. No, post-injection massages are not necessary to spread the treatment throughout the facial tissue since this occurs naturally through facial and muscle movements.

It is difficult to predict exactly what results you will achieve from this treatment since everyone is different and everyone’s bodies act differently. Broadly speaking, however, you should expect to see a smoother, clearer and more youthful complexion, with minimised wrinkles, creases and wear. It usually also makes skin look shiny, healthier and more plump - as many fillers do. The results will likely be less dramatic than some other, more invasive fillers and surgery, but still noticeable. How long do the results last? Figura Body Cream consists of two different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid at high concentrations to create a synergy and promotes well-being for the skin by encouraging skin renewal, and smoother and firmer skin. The high molecular weight of HA strengthens the barrier function of the skin, whilst the low molecular HA helps to maintain optimal skin hydration. The cream also contains Matrixyl ® 3000 which is a complex made up of a combination of two peptides.Aside from injecting a hyaluronic acid formula into your skin, how does Profhilo actually work to change the structure and texture of your skin? 'When injected into the skin Profhilo® helps the skin to hold on to water, effectively "moisturising" the skin from within,' explains Dr Williams. 'Furthermore, a stimulation of collagens and elastin has also been shown. As a stabilised HA product, the activity in the skin will last longer than that of non-stabilised HA from, for example, mesotherapy. As with any injectable, it pays to have a comprehensive consultation with your doctor beforehand to see if Profhilo is right for you and will give you the results you’re looking for. The good news is Profhilo works for everyone, at any age, with any skin type. “I’ve got patients of all different ages having Profhilo,” says Dr. Preema, who advises that starting in your mid-thirties is advantageous. If you haven’t had Profhilo before and you’re wondering what you can and can’t do post-treatment, let’s take a look at some common questions we get asked with regards to this procedure. Can I Lie Down After Profhilo?

Generally speaking, the results of Profhilo treatments can last up to roughly 6 months, however, this may vary by patient - particularly depending on skin type and age. The Profhilo treatment can work independently as a treatment on its own or in combination with other cosmetic treatments, namely because it is a natural product that is being injected. Since Profhilo is an injection that mimics the body’s production of hyaluronic acid, the treatments are far more subtle than other dermal fillers which create a more dramatic change and lift. Therefore, if you’re looking for a subtle treatment that provides youthful and rejuvenating results, Profhilo might be perfect for you. This will attract water and hydration and give you a major glow. The hyaluronic acid in dermal fillers, meanwhile, works to add volume. Botox, on the other hand, interrupts muscle function so you’re not able to crease your face and thus fine lines and wrinkles are temporarily reduced. Profhilo is ideal if you - You’ll have your first treatment of five injections on the face, then you’ll need to wait 4-6 weeks for your second treatment. After this, you can have top-up maintenance treatments every 3, 6, 9, and 12 months if you’d like them. How Long does Profhilo Treatment Last?
