About this deal

Pro Pad: The Pro Pad wraps around a belt and acts as an expanded padded surface for the Capture Clip to attach to, increasing comfort and stability when attaching large or heavy gear. What's also nice is V3 ships with two different sets of clamping bolts, hand-driven ones and a set that are driven in using a hex key (included). In Use

The Capture Clip has two metal layers that are connected by two semi-permanent thumb drive bolts. When you unscrew the bolts, the outer layer of the clip swings upward. In full disclosure, having a camera hang off your shoulder can feel… a bit weird at first. But, after a few uses, you’ll barely notice it’s there (unless your set-up is particularly heavy—but more on that below). While I've been using the Peak Design anchors for a bit, I find since they they don't swivel, I have to every so often unravel the cord. P.O.V. Kit: A standard plate and plate with a male tripod thread connected by a dual articulating (pan-and-tilt) arm. For mounting small action cameras, like a GoPro. There’s also the aforementioned Pro Pad, which gives way more stability. It’s meant for pro photographers (hence its name) but I haven’t had a chance to try it out yet. Anyway, I’m shooting on a Sony A7III, so I’m not really carrying that much weight.

I actually counted, and I found over the years I had collected 12 V1 loops, 12 V2 loops, and 8 V3 loops. The replacement was for both V1 and V3 loops, and I just got in 20 replacement loops. Lens Kit: An attachment that slides into the capture clip designed to hold lenses. This is basically a standard plate with a circular extension on which one can directly mount two lenses. Produced for either Nikon F, Canon EF, or Sony E/FE mounts. I don’t think Peak Design has ever advocated for strapping your heaviest lens to your chest and hiking for miles and miles on end with it. If you did need to carry a heavy lens or camera for a considerable period of time, you can easily do your best cowboy impression and clip the Capture Clip to your belt instead, which would certainly be easier on your body than my dumb decision. PeakDesign makes interesting things and they care about customers (thanks, Adam H. for your patience and understanding). My issues with them: When you’re first getting started, though, it’s best to use two hands. (When we first tried it out, we had the button on the outside and it definitely needed two hands!)

Materials & Build Quality

A strength rating of 200 pounds is ridiculously reassuring. You could mount a person on it. I’m assuming there’s no photographer alive who uses a single camera and lens setup that gets close to that weight. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1158934-REG/miggo_mw_ms_str_bb_40_universal_padded_camera_2_way.html
