About this deal

I don´t like political intrigue when it´s too superficial, if you cannot see through the motives of the traitors and such. - but here everything is easy to follow. On 16 September 2020, Akita Shoten announced via their YouTube channel that Requiem of the Rose King would be adapted into an anime television series. [2] [72] The series is animated by J.C.Staff and directed by Kentarō Suzuki, with Hiroki Uchida writing and supervising the scripts, Tsutomu Hashizume designing the characters, and Kow Otani composing the musical score. [73] [6] The series was originally scheduled to premiere in October 2021, [74] but was delayed due to production issues. [75] It aired from 9 January to 26 June 2022, on Tokyo MX and other channels in Japan. [8] The series aired for two consecutive cours, for a half-year continuous run. [77] Medialink licensed the series in Southeast Asia, South Asia, and Oceania minus Australia and New Zealand. [78] Episodes [ edit ] No. The best point in this series for me, though, is Richard and Henry’s relationship. I really feel for them, and think they could have a real friendship or romance, if their lives were different. They get to spend some real time together in this volume, and it’s a sweet reprieve for both of them. I want more of that, honestly.

Although this is hardly historically accurate, in its own way I find it very interesting. I’m reminded of how historical and mythical characters are often re-invented by different authors to appeal to different audiences over the years. A good example of this is King Arthur, who over the centuries has been portrayed as a Romano-British war lord, a medieval King of England, a sci-fi character on Mars, and just about anything in between. i'm horribly tempted to book talk this on my professional blog but i don't think i'm quite ready for my coworkers to know the kind of soap opera nonsense i find entertaining yet. maybe once i've got a permanent position Y por último Edward Lancaster. El odio hacia su padre por el hecho de "haberle quitado todo" hará que lleve a cabo una acción de la cual más tarde se arrepentirá.

Im not sure about the numbers, but I finished the manga and call me crazy if you want but I Like it . Granted, it can be quite amusing to compare royal portraits of the main players in Requiem of the Rose King to the manga version of beautiful people. But as a way to learn more about British history, this is a great introduction to the time of Richard III. Because Kanno has stayed true thematically to history there are a lot of tidbits and such to be gleaned. As well, it will make putting all the players into perspective that much easier as well. Richard III's young death, after all, marked the end of the medieval period and the beginning of the English Renaissance. Even though this Richard is inspired by the Shakespearean version, there is so much more than just villainy to this version. Because of the nature of this kind of story, we don’t always get the depth we do in a more traditional novel, but there is nuance to the characters all the same. Aya Kanno really did deliver when she said ‘full circle’, because wow! There are scenes, poses, and dialogue, with Richard and Henry that are so similar to volumes 1-7. The emotions this made me feel. As the Kingdom of England is torn between the House of York and the House of Lancaster—each claiming their leader to be the rightful king—young Richard III, the intersex son of the Duke of York, is fighting a battle within himself. Despised by his mother, adored by his father, and alienated from most others, Richard grapples with frightful spirits haunting him, unsteady and unintentional alliances with his enemies, and his own passion for a throne.

I'm not intersex, so I can't at all speak to the depiction of it that Kanno presents here, but I'm dubious of it (to say the least). I also love the art in this manga volume. I think it is absolutely stunning and I find myself stopping to look at the artwork in this book jus so I can admire it. I do find sometimes I get characters mixed up but I absolutely loved reading this volume for that.So first off, I have to clear the misconceptions that some of you may not understand what the somewhat derogatory term means. These are individuals that are birthed with any of several sex characteristics including chromosome patterns, gonads, or genitals that, according to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, "do not fit typical binary notions of male or female bodies". Nowadays, intersex people are most representated as part of the LGBTQ+ community, whereas in the past they're referred to as "hermaphrodites" or "congenital eunuchs", facing discrimination from birth, or following the discovery of intersex traits at stages of development such as puberty, which would ultimately result in infanticide (infant homicide), abandonment, and the stigmatization of their families. It's this basis that sets up mangaka Aya Kanno's manga-centric plays into stardom (though her first work of 2001's short manga Soul Rescue didn't really set the world on fire), starting with Otomen from 2006-2012, which once licensed by VIZ Media, became one of the best-selling Shoujo manga of the late 2000s in both Japan and the West. What happens thereafter is the longest work that she has ever done: the historical dark fantasy series Baraou no Souretsu a.k.a Requiem of the Rose King, that is loosely based on the William Shakespearean medieval plays of Henry VI, Part 3 (1591) and Richard III (1592-1594). If you'd ask me of what I'll remember Aya Kanno by, it's this tragedy series that cements her status as someone with a historical lore, yet doesn't fail to showcase the hallmarks of disturbing imagery and complex notions that's just as ever alluring to see as it is to read the entirety of the manga's 78 chapters in 17 volumes run that started from October 2013 to its recent finish in January 2022.

Edward, now king, enlists Richard to guard the secret of his affair with Elizabeth Woodville. Alone in the woods, Richard has an unexpected encounter that raises unsettling questions. An art book, Bara-Ō no Sōretsu Irasuto-shū: Keikyoku no Hitsugi ( 「薔薇王の葬列」イラスト集 荊棘の棺, "Requiem of the Rose King Illustration Collection: Coffin of Thorns"), was published by Akita Shoten on 15 June 2018. [86] [87] I really loved this volume of the manga. It's clear that Aya Kanno has done research on the Wars of the Roses and knows the history. I love how they are able to weave history with the story they are wanting to tell. It makes the story so interesting and I've been so invested when I have been reading this story. I love how it's a retelling of Henry VI and Richard III from Shakespeare as well. This is marketed as a retelling of Shakespeare's take on the Wars of the Roses as per the Henry VI and Richard III plays, but I'd say this is its own story altogether, more "inspired by" than "based on" Shakespeare. And while I've never had trouble with Shakespeare's outlandish plot because of knowing exactly what its inaccuracies are as well as the reasons the Bard had for writing them (hint: look at who his patroness was), I struggled to see the point of the plot in Aya Kanno's manga. I do love that in this we get to see the side of Richard III that we know he has deep down inside. That section on the battlefield was so unsettling and I loved how it was portrayed. a b c d e f g h i j Hazra, Adriana (31 January 2022). Margaret of Anjou sends her son Edward (I know, another Edward) with a small search party to find his father and bring him home. Un increíble tomo que, aunque no ha habido ni guerras ni batallas físicas, sí que ha habido posicionamientos y estrategias políticas.Pineda, Rafael Antonio (7 June 2021).
