This is the second book I've read this month which will undoubtedly make my best books of the year list. You should read it, so that you can add it to yours. What a terrifyingly fantastic novel. I loved every aspect of it. Mr. Malfi is a masterful storyteller. The book hooked me from the start: in a small Alaskan town diner, a old disheveled codger walks in and calmly informs the regulars that "They’re all dead, and I killed ‘em. But I’m done now and that’s that.” After this opening, we are pulled into the world of Paul Gallo. An English professor from the east coast, who heads to Alaska in search of his twin brother, who has been missing for over a year. Paul fears that he was killed by the old man who recently confessed to murdering eight people. Will he find what he is looking for? While some consider bone white to be a shade of pure white, others argue that it has a slightly off-white or ivory tint to it.

They also ask him if that’s blood all over his clothes. He responds with, “Well, they’re up there. The whole lot of them. They’re all dead, and I killed ‘em. But I’m done now and that’s that.” Design Aesthetics: Bone White brings a sense of sophistication and versatility to graphic design. I bought it for myself as a Christmas present like three years ago. In the meantime, I have become a Malfi fan by reading some of his other work, the novel DECEMBER PARK and his short story collection WE SHOULD HAVE LEFT WELL ENOUGH ALONE--both of which were five star reads for me. Faced with less-than-cooperative civil servants and even more uncooperative townsfolk, Paul is on his own when it comes to discovering what happened to his brother. And that’s when things really get interesting . . .Layering and texture: Mixing bone white with other shades of white and cream can create a layered, textured effect. This is that rare exception that permeates your mind, and refuses to leave, forcing you to keep thinking over the events you've just read, and formulating connections that you may not have consciously noted before. There are many pieces to this puzzle--some obvious, and some much more subtle--but they will all be with you in the end. A fantastic novel with the power to haunt you for a long time to come-- what will you choose to believe?

Just when I thought the creep factor couldn't get any higher, it is here that things really explode. This is my first read of a novel by Ronald Malfi and I have to say that I am a fan. I just loved this one from start to finish. Creepy, claustrophobic and atmospheric, do yourself a favour, get yourself a copy, settle down and get drawn into the world of that creepy little town in Alaska called Dreads Hand and enjoy the experience. An easy five star review for me.
