About this deal

The lesson here is to never make your mind up based on how a fragrances smells off a scent strip. Off the strip, it smelled herbal and leafy and NOT in a good way. This is a pleasant nightclub type fragrance. To me it’s like a mild greener dark chocolate version of Spicebomb or Terre d’ Hermes. There’s a slight note of plasticine to it too. One drop from the Apo was enough to wrap me in a transparent aura, well perceptible even the next morning, but not slaying, not too dense.

This one is dark and gourmandish with a creamy soda fountain like feel. The cocoa dominates with the fruity rhubarb and leafy fig leaf to give a very sweet and spicy feel when combined with a very creamy and organic tonka bean note that acts much like the coffee in the A Men series, giving it a strong base from which to push the other notes forward while not allowing the overall composition to get too light or soft. All this is incredibly well done here, with the embellishment of light, soft woods in the dry down but with the cocoa and rhubarb stealing the show for much of the stretch run.Kokorico is a fragrance for someone who dares to be different. Someone who wants wear a scent that complements their unique style or personality but doesn't want to spend hundreds of dollars doing so. Kokorico is definitely niche style, and I applaud JPG for daring to make this unique fragrance, but I can't help but shake there is something missing from the sultry combo of fig, patchouli, and cacao. On positive note, it's perfect for all seasons and weather conditions. Out of the bottle, I get the burst of cacao notes that settles into a pleasant blend of patchouli, vetiver, and "woodsy" notes. It leaves curiosity, "gee, what is that smell?" to the user and those who "float across the wake" of Kokorico. Additionally, I would make a pitch that Kokorico would be an acceptable femine fragrance - almost Thierry Mugler Angel like... What I don't like is, that this fragrance has an androgynous vibe (in a bad way). It's too masculine of the spices because of the sharp vetiver/fig leaf/cedar notes, but also too feminine because of the edible cacao. I don't know how's this possible.. The fact is, I as a female wouldn't wear it, but I also definetly would not introduce this scent to my boyfriend. And we're both spicy orintal/gourmand lovers. kk i ve had this for 2 weeks now. blind bought it because this was never introduced to the north american market and the price was good. i knew about all the hate for this fragrance but since im a huge fan of JPG and having owned le male, fleur le male and gaultier 2 i owed it to myself to try this one out. oh boy am i glad i did and quiet frankly i dont get the hate.

This fragrance is original in its way, quite different, I can understand some won't enjoy it, but calling it THE WORST? that's just gratuituous bashing IMHO !Otherwise I cannot explain the warm spice, the dark dense low, the tender scratching, the "Kokorico" on my woman's skin exudes after an almost two lashes long prelude of watery light green, latent fruit. Staying-power is mediocre, too - after two hours you're done with your "mating call". Other men's fragrances reveal their beguiling potential only after two or three hours... Without looking like any masterpiece, but if it seems remarkable, because of what I mentioned before and because unlike many of his time, like 1 Million, Kokorico is balanced in all its phases.

The patchouli in this composition was done well! It give it a dampness that makes this a very interesting scent. I know some YT reviewers say it is a dry scent, but I do not get that. It actually smells like this could be someone's natural body scent; like a familiar scent of someone's home. This is very natural and not skanky or musty. The fragrance, in turn, is very good. According to the manufacturer, opens with cocoa beans (slightly bitter) and fig leaves, bringing a mix of energy with aphrodisiac flair. Then, notes of patchouli in the heart and, finally, woody nuances of cedar and vetiver. Don't listen to the haters on this one, which I respect their point-of-views. This is one that will not be off putting too after a couple minutes. This fragrance is a great subtle fragrance. This is for people that really want to smell something out of the norm that does not carry a heavy price tag, and does not shout "I am HERE!!" At that time I've never bought a designer fragrance before. I was still new to the game and didn't really know all that much or what I was looking for. I got this bottle at "Buy 1 Get 1 Free" promo at a department store. The other one I got was JPG Le Male, and I had to choose something else from the same brand. It was between Kokorico, Le Beau Male, and Le Male Terrible. I went for this one because I thought it has the most distant scent compared to Le Male. Don't judge a book by its cover... well; don't judge a perfume by its opening. I love the smell of fig leaf and I love cocoa as well, should they be together? Maybe not. As soon as you spray Kokorico those two notes start to fight each other for some minutes. In the meanwhile I was thinking, 'oh God, what have I've done', because this was a wild blind buy. At that time I was not prepared for this dry, raw and bitter creation. It smelt strange but not in a way i found comfortable. Since then i have sprayed Kokorico randomly and just did it now again. It is excellent. The fragrance is all about the cocoa with the fig and patchouly exaggerating the raw greenness of the composition. It's still not a love, but i cannot deny its quality and the fact that i like it more and more.
