From the front it looks identical, with its familiar eyes-and-nose configuration of a 10cm woofer flanked by 18mm tweeters. You will need the Audio Pro Control App to have full functionality, linking your speakers, controlling where music is playing, and connecting them to a wireless streaming service. There aren’t many wireless speakers we’d want throughout the house as much as these, and we’d put a modest bet on you feeling the same way. Remember, the Addon range is a system meant for you to combine the different speakers in the range depending on where you are listening. If it was my money, I would go with a C10 in the living room, C5A in the kitchen and bedrooms, and perhaps a C5A set up in the garage and study. That would be a really nice setup for an average family home. Final Thoughts This range of speakers has always been blessed with straightforward musicality, but as part of a multi-room system the range of tasks the Addon C5 is asked to perform is likely to be wider. Talk radio and podcasts are on the menu, perhaps even services as an upgrade to TV speakers.

What Hi-Fi?, founded in 1976, is the world's leading independent guide to buying and owning hi-fi and home entertainment products. Our comprehensive tests help you buy the very best for your money, with our advice sections giving you step-by-step information on how to get even more from your music and movies. Everything is tested by our dedicated team of in-house reviewers in our custom-built test rooms in London, Reading and Bath. Our coveted five-star rating and Awards are recognised all over the world as the ultimate seal of approval, so you can buy with absolute confidence. Much like your Gran, however, the Swedish manufacturer could tell you how it’s managed just fine all these years without it. A much more common problem with multi-room apps is how buggy they can be – especially new ones that have had perhaps less time to iron out any creases. The C5A is up there with the best speakers when it comes to sound quality at this price. It is a very noticeable step up when coming from the smaller C3 version. Fuller bass and a more natural-sounding midrange were observed. This app lets you connect to almost any high-resolution streaming service like Tidal, Qobuzz, Deezer, and Spotify, as well as radio services like TuneIn and iHeart. The first of these new releases to receive the What Hi-Fi? treatment is the Addon C5. In effect, it’s an Addon T5 with internet and multi-room capacity. The Addon C5 is as happy expressing the irreverence in Mortimer’s tone – and the desperation in Dawson’s as he attempts to say something funny – as it is laying down the grooves on Echoes. In comparison to Sonus? For me, it’s not even close; the Audio Pro is better looking and better designed. Audio Pro Contol Application

Audio Pro multi-room system review | What Hi-Fi? Audio Pro multi-room system review | What Hi-Fi?

Multi-Room Audio: Yes, provided you buy more than one Audiopro Addon or Drumfire speaker they can connect via the app Treble is present and done well via the two tweeters. They did a nice job of delivering a sparkle but not delving into the sibilant territory. Apps like this can range from a tad frustrating to absolutely infuriating, so we’re pleased to be able to report we find no such problems while playing around with the Addon C5.The C10 is by far the best sounding with the most powerful bass. It can handle very large rooms and sound great, whereas the C5A may fail to fill the space. The C3 is best used as a combination of semi-portable (due to it having a built-in battery or for smaller rooms like bathrooms and studies. The C5A is designed for a normal-sized living room or bedroom. Pumping out volume loud enough to fill that area without having to push volumes above 80%, where distortion will start to occur. Wireless music streaming: Yes - Support for Tidal, Spotify, and most other high-resolution streaming services via the Audio Pro Control app. Sound quality is subjective. Ask even two audiophiles to compare the same speaker, and they will probably have very different opinions. At their price point, both of these multiroom speakers massively outperform the competition. If we had to choose between them, though, we would have to give the edge to the Addon C5A. For one thing, it's much more comfortable producing truly room-filling sound. With twin 3/4" tweeters and a 4" long-throw tweeter, all powered by a 40W Class D digital amplifier, it produces truly hi-fi quality sound. The Sonos One is slightly less expressive, whereas the speaker tech and layout of the Addon C5A means music of all genres has enough space to really shine. Features The C5A has the same great Hi-Fi sound as the original Addon C5, but with an extra twist; the possibility to control your speaker simply by your voice.

In terms of features, both the Sonos One and the Audio Pro Addon C5A are fairly evenly matched. They both come with built-in voice controls via Alexa (the Sonos One also supports Google Assistant too), which definitely makes them a lot easier to use. Simply ask the speaker to start playing something, whether that's a song, playlist, or even an internet radio station, and it will- simple! So let it be known the C5s most obvious talents – expressive dynamics and low-end stability – are entirely transferable. In front of the handle is the control panel. The panel is well laid out and provides users with additional functionality beyond the App that we will discuss in the next section. Centrally located, you find the volume up and down toggle switch to the left power, source, play/pause, and pairing. On the right are buttons numbered 1-4, which can be used for presets. The functionality of multi-room is aided with a custom-made app, curated in-house by Audio Pro themselves: Audio Pro Multi-room; somewhat self-explanatorily.
