About this deal

Well, It’s a simple combination of corn starch and water stirred together in equal parts. You need 1 tablespoon per cup of apple pie filling for the pop tarts. Information is not currently available for this nutrient. If you are following a medically restrictive diet, please consult your doctor or registered dietitian before preparing this recipe for personal consumption. Turn dough out onto a clean working surface. Divide dough into two equal parts. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for at least 1 hour (up to overnight). These cinnamon apple pop tarts make the perfect fall breakfast or dessert. They are made with store bought puff pastry or pie crust and a warmly spiced apple pie filling. Top them with cinnamon icing for the perfect fall treat! I know so many people love to eat Pop-Tarts in the morning, including my daughter when she was younger. That sparked me to make them with a fall twist!

It’s filled with warm apples cooked in cinnamon and brown sugar, surrounded by a freshly homemade crust that is so soft and yummy. A dollop of apple butter goes between two squares of dough, and then we crimp and seal the edges with a fork. Once the apples have cooked, add them to a food processor or high speed blender and blend until they reach a jam like consistency. This is the “apple butter” filling inside the pop tart!

Pop-Tart FAQs

Step 4 : Assemble the pop tart. Spread the apple butter on top of one of the rectangular pieces of dough, leaving about an inch around the edges. Carefully place the other rectangular piece of dough on top. I like to use the parchment paper to help guide the dough on top of the other piece of dough and then peel the parchment paper off the top.

Homemade pop tarts are one of my favorite things to make. To put it simply, they’re little breakfast pies and you know how I feel about pie. My favorite pop tarts as a kid were the frosted brown sugar cinnamon. Warm or cold I could always find a reason to enjoy them.To roll out again the scraps of dough, you will need to dampen your hands first to help it come together as it tends to dry out.

When you spoon the filling onto the pastry, leave 1/2″ around the edges so that you can seal the pastry. Bake the pop tarts for 18-22 minutes until the edges are golden and the tops look soft and pale. Let cool for at least 20 minutes before serving. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (176 C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside. Also prep your “rolling” station by placing a piece of parchment or wax paper on a clean work surface and dusting it generously with sorghum flour. I first made Homemade Pop-Tarts a few months ago with classic flavors such as Strawberry, Brown Sugar & Cinnamon and Chocolate Fudge. The response was huge! Bold Bakers around the world sent me their photos within hours. That makes me really happy to see and that’s the goal of my recipes. These apple pop tarts are the perfect breakfast or dessert for fall and the holiday season! Use store bought puff pastry or pie crust or make your own. They’re filled with delicious apple pie filling and topped with a simple cinnamon icing. I’d like to make a post of my own about making these lovely morsels and credit you and this post for the recipe and my inspiration. Is that ok with you? Use a fork to crimp the edges of the pop tart all around. This is what keeps the filling inside. Poke a few holes into the top layer of the pop tart so air has somewhere to escape in the oven.
