About this deal

The setting of the story takes place in present day fiction. The story is told about the ocean. All the animals live under water or by the sea. Turn an old water bottle into a mini-aquarium. Sand, shells, and plastic sea creatures bring the ocean to you anytime. The Commotion in the Ocean book is a collection of short and fun poems about the animals in and around the sea. The rhythmic rhymes and upbeat illustrations keep even the youngest readers interested. Kids will learn about crabs, turtles, dolphins, angel fish, jelly fish, sharks, swordfish and more! The Activity We’ve created some count and clip cards to use alongside this wonderful book. These cards are a great way for children to practice counting and identifying number. They also help them develop their fine motor skills at the same time. MATERIALS

It’s a book about the ocean and who/what live in its waters. For the most part I really liked the poems. There were one or two I found a bit grizzly (scary?) for a very young child. So in true adult fashion I just skip over those parts. Enough time for her to hear the reality of life. Here’s one more way to learn about the layers of the ocean. Use crepe paper to upcycle a plastic container, then get free printables at the link to add to your creation. Learn the zones of the ocean with these clever bottles. Simply use food coloring to dye the water deeper shades of blue to represent the amount of sunlight that reaches each zone, then add a representative sea animal toy. Again, each of these worksheets is supported by an interactive Smart board 10 notebook file to aid teaching and provide extra practice for pupils.Lessons and Standards: K-LS1-1 Use observations to describe patterns of what plants and animals need to survive. This book to be read aloud and then the teacher could conduct a conversation about what is needed for these animals that we just read about to survive. 2-LS4-1 Make observations of plants and animals to compare the diversity of life in different habitats. Use the habitats discussed in this book to compare to other habitats for this lesson. Design and Layout: I enjoyed how as you are going through the story you are 'meeting' all of the different animals and learning about them. I really enjoyed this childrens book. This book is full of good illustrations and tons of ocean animals. This book is about all of the creatures in the ocean. The book tells about what they eat, where they live and why they live there. Here’s another surprisingly easy ocean craft for kids. Cut disposable sponges into coral shapes, then stamp an underwater scene.

It is about all the different animals in the sea. The main plot is a little confusing, because it just shows you what all the sea creatures do and it doesn't have a real story behind it. After the water play, we were ready to create our ice cream sundaes at the Polar Bear Sundae Station. Waffle bowls filled with vanilla ice cream were topped with marshmallow ears, chocolate chip eyes and a mini Oreo cookie muzzle. Home » Reading Ideas » Reading Fun » Commotion in the Ocean Book and Activity Commotion in the Ocean Book and Activity The characters in the book are all of the animals that live in the ocean that are described in the book. It describes many of them. Like the shark, it eats other fish. The stingray will sting other creatures with the stinger on its tail. Also the blue whale, the biggest beast on the planet. I really enjoyed reading the book "Commotion in the Ocean". It was a fun read as I got to read it to my younger cousin Elizabeth. It was interesting to see the difference in reaction throughout the book. She asked a lot of questions seeming very interested in learning about the different creatures. She said when she grows up she wants to live in the ocean. To her disappointment I had to tell her that was not possible. Other than that, she said she liked the book because of all the pictures, colors, and learned that whales are really big.Get ready to learn all about the wonderful creatures of the ocean with our fun and engaging Matching Cards and Board Game. It’ll help your teaching alongside the brilliant book, Commotion in the Ocean, by Giles Andreae.
